T2 blueprint copy research. Is it possible?

Hello;
I have not found this anywhere so thought I would ask:
I looked at my T2 ammo bpcs and saw the research tabs. I tried to research them but get the "You can not research a blue print copy" error.
Does this mean the only way to research a T2 print is to invent a BPO into a T2 then research that?

Invention has a chance to invents a T2 BPC or nothing at all. You will be exactly where you are now if you try to invent a BPC.

T2 BPOs are rare and mystical. And you will never see one.

Isn't that a bit harsh? I mean anyone with enough ISK can get them. Check the 'Sell orders' forum section, you can see T2 BP originals sold there now and then.
