I have been away from EVE for quite sometime and would like some pointers on where I can get higher paying missions in the game. I currently have a Corax and have been training up missile skills. I will soon be getting a Caracal cruiser for running missions. I would really enjoy running some L2 missions and I'm looking for input on what skills and rigs I could use for my Caracal to hit up possibly some L3 or L4 missions at some point?

If missile are your focused weapon system, then for L3s and L4s you should upgrade to a Drake.

Just have to get the Caldari Battle-cruiser trained and I should be good to fly! What missile platforms do you suggest with that style of ship?

With low-ish skills, heavy missiles, with better tank skills, get heavy assault.2

ravens are nice for level 4s, with cruise missiles, once you get there in the skill training that is.

Lower level missions don't pay that well at all, and higher level missions level 4 especially will eat you alive if you don't have your skills too high yet. I'd recommend taking your time, invest some time in training the required skills to fly a Battleship (well) and earn the majority of your cash for now mining or doing some other things. You won't really earn much doing missions until you get into the level 4's, and losing battleships while doing them due to poor skills will only set you back further.

Just my .2 cents

Good luck!

I have looked at the skill planners and what is your take on the skills that I should train for Drake battlecruiser operations? Currently I just do level 2 distribution and that's slow but I know the skills need to be trained before I lose an expensive battlecruiser. My other question for you is should I mainly focus on missle operation, shield tanking, and rigging for this account or could I specialize in mining as well? I'm thinking I can just have an alt account that will focus on the mining and manufacturing aspects and use this for mission running?

I would put the mining and manufacturing on an alt. Missions are better ISK for your time than mining anyway. Stick to level 3 missions in the Drake while you train your skills. Then once you can fully fit a Raven with T2 gear with all support skills at at least level 4 and use T2 light drones try out level 4's. Just make sure you insure the Raven first.

Most people will tell you to get a Drake, but I am still using a Caracal for level 3 missions. The Drake is too slow for my liking. Focus on buffing up your missile support skills: bombardment, warhead upgrades, etc. Once those are at level 4, then you should be ready.

Use the Mastery levels to find out what to train for the Drake. Level 3 Mastery should be good enough for L3s and some L4s. An alternative for you is to train for a Tengu. Also, remeber to keep moving when in a mission. Speed reduces damage as it makes you harder to hit from turrets and reduces the damage from missiles. Having said that a Caracal fitted with an AB, small shield booster, and high resists will be able to do some L3s easily. You will have to watch out for NPCs that web though. Heck, the Caldari Assault Frigs can do the L3s with high skills and adequate pilotting.

...and while you're at it, start injecting/training skills for a Tengu, one of the best hulls for missioning.

Train the support skills for the weapons system you choose once you have those at least level 4 train tank skills, if you fly well that Caracal will work fine running level 3 missions.

For level 4 missions are many ship choices, my advice is go for a Battleship, the raven if you stick in the missiles path.
