"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 51/2013 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2013

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week 52/2013 from December 21st to 27th

  • EVE Online New Pilot FAQ
    • A FAQ for pilots new to EVE Online was released. This introduction gives an overview of EVE Online and answers some questions new pilots might have. The FAQ is more detailed than the quick overview on the EVE Online website, but considerably more compact (and less complex) than full guides such as ISK The Guide.

  • EVE Online Fansite Art Kit
    • After a pause of two years, a new EVE Online Fansite Art Kit was published. Those Art Kits contain wallpapers, banners, concept sketches and further art to give Fansites some inspiration and support in creating EVE themed sites.

  • Check your Holiday gifts!
    • Have the Yule Lads delivered nice gifts to you? Check the Advent calendar and get your gifts if you haven't already done so!

  • New Player Training Session: Exploration Fleet!
    • As part of the New Player Training Session the EVE Community Team and ISD STAR will run a an official New Player Exploration fleet. Read CCP Gargant's invitation and check out what the team has planned to do. The fleet will assemble on December 27 at 17:00 UTC.

  • EVE Hardcore mode?
    • What if you would lose all you skillpoints when you lose your pod and get reset to 900k skillpoints? CCP Fozzie thinks that this "hardcore mode" idea has some merits :-)

  • Third party debvs concerned about universe data migration
    • While we are testing the migration of EVE universe data from direct database entries to a file based system that is much easier to version control, some concerns were voiced that the universe data is used by many third party developers to create amazing tools. CCP Lebowski confirms that universe data after the migration will be made available for 3rd party devs.

  • Community Survey - EVE Online: Rubicon
    • We would like to invite all our players to take part in the EVE Online: Rubicon feedback survey. Your feedback is, as always, invaluable to us and this survey is a quick and easy way to tell us what you think about Rubicon. Check out the Rubicon survey and help improve EVE Online!

  • Additional Snowballs & Fireworks Available!
    • Additional to the snowballs and fireworks presented to you by the Yule Lads, you can get additional fireworks and snowballs. As many players have large amounts of unused Aurum on their accounts (that has been gifted by CCP in the past), we will be placing both fireworks and snowballs in the Noble Exchange over the holiday period, so that you can take advantage of the Aurum they have resting in your wallets to further celebrate the holiday season.

  • Second Decade Collector's Edition Sale - Musterbrand

  • Pricing of the Collector's Edition
    • Some people wondered why the Collector's Edition costs both $99 and €99.99 while one USD currently equals 0.72 Euro. CCP Falcon explains that the Euro price must include the VAT while the USD price can be displayed as $99 + TAX (which makes sense as sales tax in US varies from state to state).

    During a google hangout with members of the CSM, CCP Dolan said they where in final stage prep prior to release.

    Hardcore Mode

    This week in EVE; CCP begins devising a HARDCORE MODE that presents no advantage for anyone aside from the masochistic players who enjoy loosing years of SP and staring at their naked corpse's in space.

    In other news CCP has also been secretly developing a new SP store that they will be releasing alongside xXxHARDCOREMODExXx so you can buy all your XxSkillPointsxX back when you lose your pod to a xxxSESSION TIMEOUTxxx.

    Dont forget to buy a plex for Taiwan, Nasa, or whichever tearjerker scenario CCP makes a "cause" for.

    There is already a hardcore mode to it. Just never upgrade your clone.

    If the game otherwise would remove my skillpoints I suppose I am done with Eve and you guys can have my stuff.
