So I just came back to EVE after a 2 year break

Weird to find myself back on the old EVE forums. I took a two year break from EVE to play Mechwarrior Online (it's dying from developer neglect, don't bother trying it) and some other games. Now I'm sitting here writing another post.

I've spent the past couple of days back on my old character and also this new alt. Old character is back in null sec flying with some of my past crew, while this new alt is getting himself ready for some new adventures. It's been a bl ast. I truly missed the fact that everyday I played EVE was impactful to my character; I don't sit here to mindlessly grind matches I won't even remember tomorrow. Instead, my character has his own story, and the space lanes of New Eden are always inviting for the courageous and powerful.

Have to say, I overall like the changes that CCP has made to this game. The game's heading in a good direction, and I'm curious to see where further integration with DUST and Valkyrie go.

Glad to be back, can't say there are many games out there that can still be fun years later.

I played mech warrior beta for all of 2 hours, hawken was better. I really can't say much for the game, clunky controls, bad graphics which is surprising because its using crytek engine. I suppose the game would be better with the gaming pad designed for it.

If you're looking to try another mech game, Mektek is working on Heavy Gear Assault. Referral link if you want to be extra nice...Hawken looks dead population-wise, and MWO has turned into such an obvious money grab they are pushing $500 gold mechs before releasing content that was promised to be delivered a year and a half ago :\

As for EVE goes, I'm finding the experience to be irreplaceable. I still remember frigate fights I had 2 years ago, yet I can't remember what I did in MWO last month.

My current theory is that Eve allows / enables us to interact with one another in ways that are more real than most other interfaces/BBS/games.

We are free to engage as a highly developed and regulated society; or to pursue a code of conduct more suited to our place in the animal kingdom.

This human engagement outside the bounds and regulations of statist / monetary power structures activates our minds in ways that are otherwise suppressed. The result being that a frigate fight from 2 years ago is indeed an experience worthy of remembrance.

Welcome back =-)

I'm sure "Post with your main" existed 2 years ago, too.

He did say he is looking for some new fun with this character. What better target is there for many in GD than a known alt that is returning to EvE and looking for action.

I've only been back for half an hour and I hate you all.

I wasn't allowed to do that before. Good to be back.

You weren't allowed to hate us all?

You have got some interesting self imposed rules.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

My alt is already back with his main group. Lot's of my old corpmates are still around, so it's good fun.

The new alt is letting me rediscover the game and learn about a bunch of the basic changes in areas of the game I might miss during daily 0.0. life.

Thanks all for the good will! I am definitely having a blast; EVE hasn't been this fun for me in a long time. I must commend CCP for the awesome job they've done recently.

All this positivity in a GD thread is making me very nervous.

Its not right, not right I tell you!
