Invitation to form an official EVEMon Mobile Dev Team

Dear fellow 3rd party dev.

For you who don’t know me, let me do a quick introduction. Name’s Jimi a.k.a. Desmont McCallock and I’m the acting Lead Developer of the desktop application EVEMon for almost three (3) years now and been with the project for four (4) years.
Recently, (with the help of my ‘fairy godfather’ Smile ), I managed to get me a new ‘rig’, in order to keep up with the increasing software and speed demand for developing EVEMon. With the ‘leftovers’ from that buy I also got me a WP8 mobile (why didn’t I got a droid? Simple because I’m a Windows developer). Never having a ‘smartphone’ before I never had or saw the need for an EVEMon mobile version. Now that I have one, I immediately saw ‘the need’ and ‘what the fuzz is all about’ of having an EVEMon equivalent app for your mobile.

EVEMon7 is/was a very good attempt to port EVEMon but I think that project is long gone (no offence to the writer/owner).

So I hereby invite you, if you are interested, in founding an official EVEMon Mobile Development Team.

The specs of the project are:

  • The project will be open source.
  • The project will have the help and support of BattleClinic.
  • Source code will be hosted at Bitbucket (as BattleClinic has already an account there).
  • VCS will be either Git or Mercurial (will be decided after the team forms by the project’s participants).
  • Coding language will be .NET/C#.
  • Database platform, if needed, will be SQLite.
  • Developing environment will be VS2012 or Xamarin Studio.
  • Initial development will target WP7/WP8 platform.
  • Future development intention to target Android and iOS platform via Xamarin.

So if you agree and fulfill the specs needs, get in touch, so we can get things started as soon as possible.

To get in touch contact me either via EVE-Mail or post on http://forum.battleclinic.com/index.php/topic,178695.html

In case you ask 'why we won't do an HTML5 app', the answer is simply because we already have code written in C# that we can use (EVEMon desktop) and I'ld like to be able to use the native API of each mobile platform, and that's where Xamarin comes in.

A wp8 version of evemon would be so awesome. No matter how many times I try I cant seem to wrap my head around programming so I cant be much help there, but if you need testers I can do that. I have a few different wp8 devices lying around that I can use to test.

I would join, but I went ahead and bought a proper phone with Android.
Bit ironic really, as I'm very much into C# and ******* hate Java.

P.S.: For the record, I've always had Windows phones, but at some point you've got to admit defeat...

Would love to join in the effort. I am a beginner WP8 dev, and also have been playing with the https://www.touchdevelop.com development tool.

I've not worked with Windows Phone development as of yet, but I'd be interested in joining the project. I've been working with .NET/C# for quite a number of years professionally, ranging from web sites, web services, apis, through to Windows applications.

As part of new needs and developments where I work now, I'm also in the process of doing some self-training on iPhone/iOS and Android development (I work for public transit, and we're branching into smartphone apps).

I even have a Windows Phone which I won at a Microsoft developer's conference in Boston over the summer which has just been sitting around.

Shoot me some information on how I can help you out with your project.

Hi, guys. Looks like we are gathering up.

Just to keep you up to speed, we don't have something solid yet as I'm kinda busy lately with RL.
On top of that, with the upcoming winter expansion changes that will require from me to work on EVEMon, this project gets pushed a little further back.

I will shoot you an EVEMail though to let you know how to get in touch with me.

I'm also able to do some stuff, I already did some WP7 development, for a project which was selected for Microsoft's Imagine Cup French Finale (Sadly we didn't won there, so we didn't go to worlds).

Developed in C# and used stuff like cameras and Azure Mobile Services.

If you're interested in killboard data, do feel free to let me know, or swing by our IRC channel (#esc on irc.coldfront.net).

We are more than up for adding specific API endpoints that EVEMon could use :)

edit://
That's on zKillboard btw. (The thing that'll replace EDK on EVE-KILL at some point)
