Black Ops Style - Pimp my Black Ops

Hi all, and merry christmas everyone

First thing, english is not my native language :)

I will write about Black ops ,this will be very short just a little brainstorming. This ship get some changes soon, throwing the cloacked velocity bonus etc

What about 2 different Black ops like recon ships or command ships ?

One BO would be specialized for opening portals with better fuel consumption per lvl and bridge bonus or smallar cargo but bigger fuel bay

other BO would be specialized for combat, less defence, faster and less penalty for scan resolution when you fit cloacking device, better damage output, smaller fuel bay bigger cargo or drone bay and like this


and everyone can choose the style of black ops

Not going to happen.

You might notice that the command ships got their roles merged. The BOs will most likely keep their dual roles, but in order to become good at 1 of the roles you will have to sacrifice on the other one, when fitting it.

Should probably be in features and Ideas? But yeah, it would be nice to see more battleship hulls with some diverse application.

Actually if I remember correctly CPP was thinking about the idea of Combat and Assault BO, similar to battlecruisers.

Key things:

- covert ops cloak, say what you want, until you have this, you'll stay as taxi, simple as that
- T2 resists or even T3 subsystems system, the ships are soo expensive, yet so fragile
- something that recons can't do, apart from bridging
- change Sin into drone/logi boat
- anchorable covert cynos, so you don't have to juggle with your alts all the time? would be just nice +

Hmm, what else? Let them fit 2 bomb launchers :o

except as you said, this is the opposite of what just happened to the command ships. I am very skeptical there will be a second line of blops.

1. Covops cloaks, judging from blueposts in the past, I doubt this will happen.
2. CCP has said they will never give full t2 resists to a battleship
3. BLOPS can already do dps, which recons cannot do, the only 'overlap' is with recons is the widow's ecm capability.
4. The Sin is already practically a drone/logi boat.
5. Anchorable covert cynos? lol what a notion....

1. As I've said, until they have it, they are useless - why would you use 1b+ ship to give away your gank in warp or clue that you are bouncing, also that dumb scan-res
Not like it gives you anything extra, you can finally be part of stealth ganks/roams, but you are still fat and expensive thing, if you decloak, you better mean it...
2. Well that's sad, would be nice if you could run nullsec incursions in them... how about navy ships HP/resists wise?
3. 2 bombers do dps more or less similar to 1 BLOPS, for fraction of price
4. yeah, but logiing without range bonus is pita

2. Why would you use blops instead of the typical t1/navy/pirate/marauder BS ?
3. Two bombers do the same DPS as a lot of ships for a fraction of the price, your point?

1. Following your logic, nobody needs the cloak then. Only special variable set to True so they can use "black ops" bridge.
2. Because I'd like to send scout through nullsec to incursion location, assess the situation and if correct, beam my fleet in... rather than risking jumping to incursion location
3. I was reacting to the point of other poster that BLOPS have DPS over other stealthies, which should be one of their advantages to actually get dropped into combat

Not used BLOPS myself, so some questions:

why DON'T they have access to cov-ops cloaks - they ARE cov-ops......

with cloakies - once you decloak - you'd better be killing your target quick, getting out, and THEN repping - so maybe give them bonuses to RR (Shield,Armour,Hull) something like 1000% bonus to rep, but 2000% cycle time, so they actually do less reps than any other RR, but are good for fixing up your buddies after (oh and bonus - reps applied at the start of cycle) - though I DO see potential for abuse.....

maybe make a cloaky transport ship with RR capability or a covert Logi, that can only lock 1 target, has bonuses to RR such that it can't fit anything that would increase it's target count - so it's literally a 1-ship repper (can't see this being used though)

simple deployable covert cyno's? degrade after couple of hrs, or at next DT?

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

Personally I do not get the fear CCP has of giving battleships cov ops cloaks. That's the first thing I'd do to make blops more than a taxi service.

Exactly... Would be nice if we could get some more specific and deeper, rather than vague, clarification of CPP's thinking process on this matter.

Issues is BLOPS can be very capable ships....if flown and fit right. While many cannot unlock their potential, ccp has over time seen what happens for the few who can as they are now (as they have been basically unchanged since the quick fix with jump changes they had).


While BLOPS are lacking in some areas (not going to argue this point, they need some love), many crews in the past have run blops gangs to very good affect. Even "gimped" by not having a CO cloak and other limitations.

If they cared enough, or someone paid them enough to care, to attack a crew burn eden's blop gangs were many things....ineffective was not one of them.

When ccp changes they factor in how will this be tweaked and twisted by the player base. Blops in the past for the few who worked out good doctrines were very painful. CO cloak would jsut make this more so for even the crews who cba to put more effort and isk (as I will grant crews like BE and some others blops fits weren't cheap, very shiny in fact) to work themn better.

Or ccp would have to field what goes away. for this I'd see no cloak delay going away. i would not be happy with this change . As my blops is widow atm I'd have to fight decloak delay and lock time based on it being a BS. Even in falcons the decloak delay + lock time can be seconds of waiting I don't enjoy. I don't think I'd be alone in this as in the many threads about CO cloaking for blops you get other BLOPS pilots who don't even want this as well.
