Carriers are ones of the most versatile ships in eve. Even for solo pilots.

Assigning fighters to a BShip fleet. strategic draw-of-attention, triage module, LOLbait, hotdropping, taking down hostile POS's/defending friendly ones... nullbears with too much money use them for AFK ratting....

I don't know of many ships that can not only move all my crap from one station to another, dock, move a few fittings, and be ready to either super rep something, fight something, be generally bad ass. For how useful it is, it is under priced.

The wording "carrier" is quite misleading. Cap logi and drone boat, something like that.

I'd love to see real carriers: Transport ships with pilots in while jumping.

Carriers are used for ramming, logistics, and bringing dust marines to the front line, I learned this from watching CCP trailers.

Slowcats are the most versatile large fleet concept in EVE right now.

This man speaks truth. The Archon class carrier is the wave of the future. A sufficient fleet of these is nigh impregnable and able to bash structure or instapop interceptors and tackle, or kill dreadnoughts. They can clear tackle (bubbles) off themselves by way of smartbombs and can refit for virtually any situation on the fly.

They can cross the galaxy in a matter of minutes via jump drive or drop at zero and hunker down and turtle up on a strategic objective. Repair it too!

Soon the spacelanes shall be dominated by great fleets of these golden behemoths and all others shall fall by the wayside. The Empress will be most pleased.

Like, for instance, Logistics.

Yes, but a scythe can repair about 800 EHP per 5 seconds. A remote capital shield booster repairs about 1600 EHP per
5 seconds. If a chimera has 3 remote shield boosters, wouldn't it be better to just use 6 scythes?

Your figures are a wee bit off.

Capital Shield Transporter I: 1500 HP, 5 seconds
Triage I/II: 100% HP (3000 HP), -50% cycle (2.5 seconds)

Uh. Carriers don't cost that much, and generally anyone who runs missions for about a week can afford one.

As far as what they are used for:

Drone platforms. If you see how the war with N3/CFC is going you will note that carriers feature prominently in all engagements as primary DPS ships.

Rep platforms: A couple of triage carriers dropping into a fleet can rep with far more power than any other ship in the game.

Mobile base of operations: Hotdrop groups have been known to use carriers to store an entire squads worth of equipment deep in someone elses space.

"All my crap shuttle": When I deploy to a new place to kill nerds, I do it in my carrier. I pack all the ships I need into it and go hopping across the universe.

Ratting: Anyone outside of a wormhole ratting in a carrier is a moron.

Quite the oppsite unfortunately... Everytime a carrier dies hundreds of millions of isk magically appears in the wallet of the person losing the ship through insurance. The isk used to pay for it originally is not gone, it has just been moved to another person. So now you have approx. 1 bil isk + insurance. Isk sink requires money to disappear from the game, and producing a carrier has little to no cost towards non-players...

The thing is, Tippia knows that. He either had a really blonde moment, or he's joking about people's typical misconceptions on what isk sinks are.
