Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

As some of you know, I biomassed my main character and its associated alts. I said nothing publicly about it when I did it. I just did it, and that was the end of it for me. I wasn't trying to make a big controversy out of it. However, there seems to be some misconceptions and some curiosity behind why I did this, so I decided I would post this one last message to dispel the rumors and happily move on from this chapter of my Eve life. (ISD: This is not an "I'm quitting" thread.)

First and foremost, I did not do this because of any wardec we were facing. Honestly, we had been in far tougher situations than the one we were currently facing, and claiming that you had anything to do with it just makes you look foolish in my opinion. I have no idea how much we've lost from wars in the past year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the tens of billions. And let me tell you something -- it was a blast! I don't care about ISK. As long as I have ships to fly and get blown up -- and blow others up, too -- I'm happy.

There are a lot of misconceptions about me, but the biggest one is one that no one is talking about. I orchestrated all of this! I wanted all of those wars. This summer was simply awesome. How many alliances like ours can say they had every major merc alliance gunning for their destruction? I liked the idea of a "good vs. evil" fight. I treated it as a conflict driver. It's why I subbed to Eve when I did! This wasn't a secret to those in my inner circle, and it shouldn't have been a secret to the people in our alliance. Early on, we were planning a war against CODE. It was voted on by our players and passed. We have an intel thread that is 35 pages in length!

Ultimately, nothing came of it. I scrapped it because I didn't want to provide them with additional publicity. We moved onto other wars, and other things. So this idea that we're just a bunch of carebears who feel picked on is just not even remotely accurate. We were out to create a "white knight alliance" that could provide help to others who were being aggressed by the griefing community. I saw it as a good thing for Eve. It gave those that engage in "non-consensual PvP" with some of their own "non-consensual PvP."

We weren't quite ready for what we got ourselves into, but isn't that also what makes Eve so much fun? I thrive on challenges. Without them, stagnation sets in. More often than not, I was just trying to create my own brand of entertainment. And that's basically all I have to say on that subject. It should be noted that I am actually still the executor of FSN with the character Pyroclysmic, announced earlier today. FSN isn't dead, and you didn't get me to rage quit. >.>

If there's anything that has irritated me, it's the players who make claims that we're risk-averse and try to avoid conflict. I have never dropped to NPC to get out of a war. I've never closed a corp to end a war. We don't dock up during the span of a wardec. But that doesn't mean we're stupid either. If we know we can't win a fight, we're not going to engage in it. That's just common sense, and even the best PvP'ers do it.

We're not heavily active right now. Many of us are dealing with real life, which should always come first. We were inactive for quite a few months, so getting back into the swing of Eve might take us a bit of time...but we'll get there. Where we go from here, none of us are quite sure yet. It's something we've all been discussing for at least the past week or two. We'll figure it out. But let me be clear. You will never be able to claim you're the reason I quit Eve. (I hear someone saying "challenge accepted" in their head right now.)

As for why I killed off rswfire (all those skill points, man), it really doesn't matter why. I did it for reasons I won't disclose. But it should tell you something... That I take this game far less seriously than a lot of you think I do. I biomassed nine characters with an average of 25M SP each and +5 implants. I don't regret it at all, not even a little.

At the end of the day, I'm still pretty new to Eve in the span of its history. I've made mistakes. I'll make more. But at least I'm having fun. At least I'm trying to do something. Eve is honestly one of the most entertaining games I've ever played because it is so open to player manipulation.

So, with that said, fly reckless and keep your clones up to date! (I know I do.)

This character is now retired. \o/

Signing off.

Indeed Kristopher. Bit too much caring, too much attention seeking, too much telling things which aren't needed to be told while at the same time not telling the actually important parts.

You talk like you're swimming around in a pool of emotions, stopping to feel each one and writing about how that particular emotion feels and then moving on. Teenage girls say more concrete things about One Direction than I've ever gotten out of anything you've written.

But who cares. Seems like you want to play Eve, build up your empire, and don't mind fighting for it (if I've correctly interpreted the "rarrr" emotions you've described). That's the Eve spirit. It seems like you've given up trying to label players playing a game within the rules as "cyber-bullying" which is a good decision. So maybe instead of using the forums for journaling your feelings, you could play the game and blow stuff up now? At least in C&P you'll get more respect for that than you will with what you're doing now.

Perhaps you'd understand if people started Googling it and using it to contact you out-of-game both in personal and professional settings and often with purposes of malcontent .

By me saying nothing, as I tried to do, you could say whatever you wanted without anything out there to disprove it.

You don't just get to claim victory over something you played no part in.

That was the point of this. Nothing else.

I would have left this at that and been done.

I answered a few questions and then the inevitable trolling started.

From all the people I'd expect it from.

I started programming computers as a child and came up with my name as a teenager. It is quite literally my online identity. I've been using it since before the movie "Hackers" came out. It is a name that provides too much insight into my personal life, and sadly some people in Eve have chosen to use that knowledge to their advantage and both harass me personally and to take some of their antics into my professional life.

I can't undo it, but I can try to limit it from happening in the future...by playing a different character.

I'm sorry to hear about how you've been harassed in real life, however I hope you realise that by making this thread and providing everyone with your new character name, you're essentially leaving breadcrumbs to follow for anyone who targets your new character in the future.

Thank you. I'm aware. It's why I tried to avoid the entire thing. Sadly, I have this innate need to be honest with people, and I really hate inaccurate speculation. Had I thought it through better, I should have just explained this on rswfire, but it's not a big stretch to put the two characters together, so originally I was thinking of just role-playing her.

I've taken measures to minimize any future impact. I really don't care if someone tries to harass me online. You can just ignore them the same as you can anyone in Eve itself. And it would take someone extremely intelligent to hack into any of my accounts. All I really need to do at this point is make a few changes to "some other things."

So I think everything will be fine. Guys, I'm really not trying to make a big deal out of anything. I am just trying to have fun in a video game the same as any of you. All I ask is you call my Pyro and not rswfire whenever you decide to write about me in the future...because you know we're going to war...again, and again, and again.

I guess if you really want to get me to quit, ignore my request here. That'd probably do it. Because I'm sure as hell not training another character from scratch!

See you in game. Big smile

If there's anything I've learned from our war with BAW, it's to never underestimate anyone in Eve. You just don't know who they are, who their friends are, and what they might do to you, or for how long! And, so far as I can tell, I don't even think I could claim that it's over between us. Big smile

Who are you? I have no idea who you are, dude.

At any rate, it was posted to C&P because the content largely surrounded this community. If a GM/ISD thinks it should be somewhere else, I'm sure they'll move it.

No idea what you're on about with fake rage quitting.

Move along if you don't like what I have to say. No one's forcing you to read it.
