Focused Shield Hardener

Disclaimer:
So first and foremost, this is just an idea - I am not sure whether the EvE player base would want this time or whether it is something relevant to the play style of EvE Online.

Focused Shield Hardener:

What Does This Module Do? - Overloads your ships shields to create a temporary barrier that absorbs incoming damage. Using a Cap-Booster and being limited on how often it can actually be used. It would work in either of two ways -

1. It absorbs damage during its cycle time 2-4 seconds.

2. It absorbs the next 2-3 attacks over a 6 second timer. Essentially making a temporary absorption shell.

How could this be implemented with its current limitations? When taking focus fire it can allow a ship to hold its own under concentrated fire - Allowing logi to prepare, assuming it operates on the first option.

If you are engaging a ship such as a Artillery Tornado in a small frigate, you may use it to negate the first shot or so - possibly meaning the difference between life or death. It may allow you to apply DPS with no risk temporarily in a Brawl or absorb a bit more DPS before back up arrives during a bait.

Anyways I just thought I'd propose the idea - As I said, I'm not sure if "Absorption" mechanics have a place in EvE at all, but I thought I'd bring the idea forward for scrutiny.

So, you want a module that made you "iinvulnerable" for some seconds or depending on you charges?

Just NO. Bad Idea is Bad.

The reason is simple

This module would be MANDATORY for every pilot and ship in the game, PvE and PvP, and I can said to you an infinite amount of situations to use them, from lvl1 missions to that Titan that was tackled, going through being "invulnerable" to CONCORDOKEN and more. Including Armor Tanked ships.

So NO

Edit: And no, there is no possible balance for this type of module

Pretty much this.

However, I would like to get a reactive shield hardner.

Well. Total invulerability... that might be a bad thing.
But say, you have something like an "Ancillary Shield Hardener" which uses Cap Boosters to greatly increase resistance (and maybe just resistance to a single damage type, restricted to 1 per ship), that might be a module worth thinking about.

indeed. a reactive shield hardener which works like the armor one would be nice, and maybe let armor get an invulnerability field like resist too which would in a sense plug the gap between ENAM and active hardeners .

Which is exactly why neither one should enter the game.

Agreed, there needs to be a differentiation between the tanking types.

some mods:

"your" focused shield hardener - is shield equivalent of a reactive hardener

"my" overcharged shield boost amp - active mod - gives a 35% bonus to active rep amount - shield booster uses 50% more cap per cycle (can not over heat)

"my" armour repair over-clocking unit - active mod - gives a 30% boost to active rep amount - armour rep uses 35% more cap per cycle (can not overheat)

"exists" EANM change this mod to a hardener.
EANH (energised adaptive nano hardener) same (or close to) the same fitting required as an invulnerability field. (increas resistance profile slightly)

reduce the current EANM resistance profile and reduce fitting requirements

"my" reinforced shield resistance amplifier (RSRA) an "eanm" for shiled tankers (25% resistances across the board, same fitting as current shield resistance amps)

Shield and Armor ARE diferent. There is no reason to made them the same thing.

So stop saying that this need to be like that, put this this way so is like this...

Diferent things ARE diferent, so no new equivalent Shield mods for Armor and Viceversa.
