Thanks Yule Lads - You've lost me around 200 Million ISK . . . . . .

So I trade in fashion items across various regions and have buy orders in for certain items, the value of which lies in their general scarcity. My buy orders for two items were set at around 3 million to 6 million each, again across various regions.

Lo and behold I log in this morning to find every buy order has been filled and now I realize every account in Eve now has one of these 'rare' items therefore completely crashing the market!

So thanks to this nice gift you decide to give everybody I'm out of pocket to the tune of 200 million isk and stuck with a load of virtually worthless items, thanks for that one CCP!

What's the usual rule about the market again..?

Oh, that's right. "Prices can go down as well as up". Bad luck on your poor investment and inattention to the advent calendar - a good tycoon woulda spotted that and offloaded as fast as possible.

The claim that CCP is dominating the market with Christmas gifts is vastly overblown. Supply and demand is a very simple rule. Today, there's an oversupply. In three weeks, there will be an overabundance of demand.

Sell your stuff in three weeks.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

Items that participate on the market should NEVER be just given away.

Didn't they learn anything with Ishukone Scorpion incident?

None of those items was rare nor expensive, as is shown by the fact that you lost a mere 200 million, which is less than what costs your blouse.

Yeah sorry for having a real life and not being able to be logged in 24/7.

If they had announced what people would be getting beforehand at least I could have taken down all my buy orders so I didn't get lumbered with all this now overpriced crap. Seriously CCP if you gonna give out unique new things like Fedo etc all well and good but it would be nice to get warnings on things that can crash the market.

No, because that was a totally different lesson.

Junk =/= Rare super-valuable collector's item

Pshh, don't lie to us, you're on the forums therefore you don't have a real life. Blink

It's hardly a "crash". You had a niche, your niche is now filled. Dry your eyes and move on - maybe you can come back later.

Doesn't work like that with clothing items. They can never be destroyed as such. You buy one, wear it as long as you want then when you desire a change you can just repackage and re-sell it. Now there are over 300,000 of these items in game in a market where only around a dozen or so are traded each week.

Basically they are now worthless.

As you clearly dont know how to control market forces, how the heck do you claim to have traded in these?

You really cant see how to jack the price back up?

REALLY?!

A surprising percentage of over 300,000 players now have an interest in fashion items who never did before, because they never owned a fashion item. You can fulfill that demand, or let your competitors do it.

Sure, the stuff is not nearly as expensive as the Ishukone Scorpions were but they were injected to the market similarly(give away).

The problem here is the sheer volume of those low-cost items.

Yes, you've already stated that.

Seriously, like all other builders and traders you took a calculated risk and invested a portion of cash in a product that you hoped would bring a profit.

This time it didn't work out.

Be happy it wasn't any serious money invested.

Its true, they cornered my market in IWSes
