ISK from FW

Just a quick question, I've seen many people on these forums and elsewhere who suggest farming FW plexes is a solid source of income with little skill investment. I wonder if this is still viable as many of the posts I read were from many months ago. If so, what would be the best route to get started? I'm in desperate need of some startup capital to try my hand in trading after a long hiatus.

Just keep in mind that FW is mainly made to PvP. It's all in lowsec and you are at war with the enemy factions.

And its just as easy as to pick a frigate and orbit the butoon in a (defensive) plex.

Defensive plexing is indeed a solid way to generate LP, which the clever player can convert to a lot of ISK.

It's not the best source of ISK in the game, but it is reliable and effective.

I hear that TEST alliance has resorted to farming offensive plexes in fleets of cloaked stabbed ventures. I also hear that blitzing faction war missions in a stealth bomber is worth stupid amounts of LP.

I would reconsider mate. Nothing personal, but the last thing the WZ needs is more stabbed/cloaky farmers.

FW is supposed to be a game of combat campaigns, and the players rightly resent people just there to avoid participating.

And we all keep a double scram fit 'farmer farmer' on stand by anyway.

If you're not there to grief and troll, I think you would find it a negative experience.

If its trading you want to get in to, start trading! Use http://eve-central.com/tradetool/ to get started.

At first you will make mistakes that cost you, so start small. No point making a Bill isk in FW and then losing it all on one bad trade while you learn the ropes.

Edit: PS: dont use that tool to trade in and out of Jita. Competition for orders is too steep, and you'll always miss the sale by a few seconds. Start with the other trade hubs and look for trades with multiple buy orders for the goods at the destination station.

FW missions and offensive plexing are a good solid source of faction and LP, and the LP is essentially easily convertible 1000:1 to ISK in the market. Especially if your side is winning; right now, for example, Minmatar are at Tier 3 to Tier 4 depending on the night, and the LP rewards for both missions and plexes are huge, approximately 9K LP (~9 million ISK) equivalent for each level *3* mission I am currently doing right now. Level 4 are probably off the hook at the moment.

FW missions and offensive plexing are also extremely risky. The missions take you about 10 jumps into the other side's FW area and sometimes through their hisec, which is bad because their militia navy hates you. (luckily their militia navy is also terribad). You also are running through areas with both extremely experienced pirates and also other players that get substantial rewards from killing you.

Last night, in the course of *one* level 3 mission in a cruiser, I had to:

- MWD-run out of point range of a multiple battlecruiser pirate gate camp (I'd be dead if I had had my AB fit as usual)
- blitz another WT gate camp I stupidly stumbled into
- warp out of a mission when a WT fleet interceptor warped in, barely evaded tackle, should have just killed it, what can I say, I'm a noob
- warp out again on return to the mission because they had another guy camping my accel gate
- really fight off the urge to just start fighting these guys (I was pretty beat up, running level 3's in a mission-fit Stabber)

So, don't go in this if PvE and farming is your thing. You're gonna be fighting. A lot. I only run missions to fund my Frigate habit, and that's probably the *only* way it makes sense unless you are a whole lot more trained up in things like stealth bombers than I am :)

On the other hand, if PvP is what you want, it's awesome. I'm loving it.

Stabbed FW LP Farming is stupid and I applaud any pirate trying to put a stop to it chasing stabbed farmers out of their complex. Making money is fine but running around a warzone like a chickensh*t farmer alt without going for any fights ever is just plain horrible. I'd suggest lowsec exploration is you want to play 'dodge-the-pirate' while making money, and use FW as a way to get both ISK as well as PVP experience. Eve is a PVP game at it's core, you'd best embrace it.

You are right that FW does not require much SP to begin with. Its mostly about frigates, destroyers and cruisers and one of the easiest ways to get into PVP for a new player.

It's really amazing how full of stabbed cloaky frigates the FW area becomes after hitting Tier 4, yeah. I had never seen that before when I wrote the above post. It's kind of impressive in a way. Understandable (inevitable) given the LP rewards for plexing at T4.

Still, lots of great PvP action too, both in plexes and missioning.
