As some of you know, I biomassed my main character and its associated alts. I said nothing publicly about it when I did it. I just did it, and that was the end of it for me. I wasn't trying to make a big controversy out of it. However, there seems to be some misconceptions and some curiosity behind why I did this, so I decided I would post this one last message to dispel the rumors and happily move on from this chapter of my Eve life. (ISD: This is not an "I'm quitting" thread.)

First and foremost, I did not do this because of any wardec we were facing. Honestly, we had been in far tougher situations than the one we were currently facing, and claiming that you had anything to do with it just makes you look foolish in my opinion. I have no idea how much we've lost from wars in the past year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the tens of billions. And let me tell you something -- it was a blast! I don't care about ISK. As long as I have ships to fly and get blown up -- and blow others up, too -- I'm happy.

There are a lot of misconceptions about me, but the biggest one is one that no one is talking about. I orchestrated all of this! I wanted all of those wars. This summer was simply awesome. How many alliances like ours can say they had every major merc alliance gunning for their destruction? I liked the idea of a "good vs. evil" fight. I treated it as a conflict driver. It's why I subbed to Eve when I did! This wasn't a secret to those in my inner circle, and it shouldn't have been a secret to the people in our alliance. Early on, we were planning a war against CODE. It was voted on by our players and passed. We have an intel thread that is 35 pages in length!

Ultimately, nothing came of it. I scrapped it because I didn't want to provide them with additional publicity. We moved onto other wars, and other things. So this idea that we're just a bunch of carebears who feel picked on is just not even remotely accurate. We were out to create a "white knight alliance" that could provide help to others who were being aggressed by the griefing community. I saw it as a good thing for Eve. It gave those that engage in "non-consensual PvP" with some of their own "non-consensual PvP."

We weren't quite ready for what we got ourselves into, but isn't that also what makes Eve so much fun? I thrive on challenges. Without them, stagnation sets in. More often than not, I was just trying to create my own brand of entertainment. And that's basically all I have to say on that subject. It should be noted that I am actually still the executor of FSN with the character Pyroclysmic, announced earlier today. FSN isn't dead, and you didn't get me to rage quit. >.>

If there's anything that has irritated me, it's the players who make claims that we're risk-averse and try to avoid conflict. I have never dropped to NPC to get out of a war. I've never closed a corp to end a war. We don't dock up during the span of a wardec. But that doesn't mean we're stupid either. If we know we can't win a fight, we're not going to engage in it. That's just common sense, and even the best PvP'ers do it.

We're not heavily active right now. Many of us are dealing with real life, which should always come first. We were inactive for quite a few months, so getting back into the swing of Eve might take us a bit of time...but we'll get there. Where we go from here, none of us are quite sure yet. It's something we've all been discussing for at least the past week or two. We'll figure it out. But let me be clear. You will never be able to claim you're the reason I quit Eve. (I hear someone saying "challenge accepted" in their head right now.)

As for why I killed off rswfire (all those skill points, man), it really doesn't matter why. I did it for reasons I won't disclose. But it should tell you something... That I take this game far less seriously than a lot of you think I do. I biomassed nine characters with an average of 25M SP each and +5 implants. I don't regret it at all, not even a little.

At the end of the day, I'm still pretty new to Eve in the span of its history. I've made mistakes. I'll make more. But at least I'm having fun. At least I'm trying to do something. Eve is honestly one of the most entertaining games I've ever played because it is so open to player manipulation.

So, with that said, fly reckless and keep your clones up to date! (I know I do.)

This character is now retired. \o/

Signing off.

I would just like to point out impersonating people is against the rules.

Interesting posting style and grammar compared to your blog and previous post. Your normal high born English seems to be lacking which made me raise an eyebrow the second I read that post. On that note if it is you and you're just medicated or drunk, I am still waiting on a respond with regards to what we talked about. I expect a response by tomorrow so I don't have to log a petition at you for impersonating the real rswfire.

It's definitely me, Kane. I'm not sure how I sound different to you.

I suppose I should thank you for looking out for my best interests, though...? xD

You can file a petition, but all that would happen is they'd see it on the same account as my character was on previously.

You could also ask Wolf and he can confirm it for you, too.

I'm not using rswfire anymore. That will be the last message I ever post with him.

Pyro's my new main, and I'll reach out to you on her.

I can understand the confusion and I apologize. I'll try to explain.

I didn't really want to write the above post. Three days ago, I biomassed a bunch of my characters. I had my reasons for doing this, but I haven't shared those reasons, and I didn't inform anyone outside of my alliance before or after that I had done this. This caused some speculation among a certain sub-community within Eve. Some people from a few alliances (they know who they are), have been writing messages in various forums claiming victory over getting me to biomass my characters and killing my alliance. Neither of these things are true, so I felt it was necessary to discredit those rumors. Thus the aforementioned post.

I suppose I mine as well just get this over with.

Answering your question will also force me to explain why I deleted them in the first place. My character name goes well beyond Eve. I created my first character back in '09 before I knew anything about this game, so I did not try to create a generic character name. It was an inactive account for four years. I only really started playing in December '12. If I had known then what I know now, I never would have used that name, but it seemed innocuous at the time.

I started programming computers as a child and came up with my name as a teenager. It is quite literally my online identity. I've been using it since before the movie "Hackers" came out. It is a name that provides too much insight into my personal life, and sadly some people in Eve have chosen to use that knowledge to their advantage and both harass me personally and to take some of their antics into my professional life.

I can't undo it, but I can try to limit it from happening in the future...by playing a different character. I definitely would not want someone else using that name. I did not want to reveal this because I did not want to give anyone else any ideas. I don't trust this community, with good reason. Eve's reputation is not as well-known as I think some players believe it to be. No one I know has ever even heard of this game.

He was long winded, yet said nothing. Seems like the old rswfire to me.

Can't understand why anyone would biomass perfectly serviceable characters as opposed to selling them, short of temporary psychosis or alcohol / drug induced mad.

Perhaps you'd understand if people started Googling it and using it to contact you out-of-game both in personal and professional settings and often with purposes of malcontent...much like the attitude of this guy...

Said the guy who posted this.

Allow me to quote from your post and where I "said nothing" related to it in my post.

Quote:
But apparently the Firesworn Nation has collapsed and rswfire himself has biomassed. So his legacy could live on without you bastards corrupting it, he created a new character to hold his mighty name in reserve.

We haven't collapsed. I could care less about a legacy in a video game. I created a new character to prevent others from registering it (as you saw someone do with one of my corp names) so that my name could not be misrepresented here, because "rswfire" is a name I've used since 1994.

All those assumptions. Not one of them correct.

Then there was your, I guess 2nd in command.. or maybe just the next guy in the anarcho communist collective to wield executive power for the week...

The stars of New Eden lost a great man today. rswfire biomassed his characters.

He wasn't the greatest pilot to ever fly in EvE. He never claimed to be. But he was a great man, a great leader, and a friend anyone should have. He had a vision of making Eve a better place, to balance all the wrongs that are done in this game every day.

For reasons that I will not disclose (they are private and should remain as such unless he wants to tell them), he has left the game and passed on the leadership of the Firesworn Nation to me.

I especially like where Alex compared you to Nelson Mandela.

Quote:
Which direction FSN will take I do not know yet. Right now we are to the bare bones. Only a few of us are left, tied by a friendship we have solidified this past year, and we are not interested in the Eve politics anymore.

Collapse seems like a good enough characterization to me. Alex just didn't want to come out and say it.

Okay. Some of that is fair.

I did leave the alliance in whole...giving it to Alex and four others. Alex as executor, the others as CEOs of different corps. I had no characters in it after I did that until I put Pyro in it today.

I never said I was quitting Eve. But I didn't want to explain why I was biomassing some of my characters either. In fact, I said absolutely nothing on the subject...except in a comment *after the fact* in a post written by someone else, that was read by all of maybe 25 people.

I kept the character names that I don't widely use elsewhere and thus can't be traced to my personal life. I would hope you're a reasonable enough person to understand why someone might choose to do that.

I contemplated what I would do next and ultimately I decided I didn't really want to leave my friends behind.

I don't see the issue there.

Respond if you like, but we've done this before, and I won't carry on another three hour conversation with you.
