Guns Missing 100% ? Help

I have been in a Phoon for a while and was always missile heavy, no guns, then built a Hurricane for mission running today and noticed none of my 650mm's are hitting. I even went and did a lvl 1 just to see if it would hit, but no, a miss every time. Since I have never been into guns, mostly missiles/drones, what is the reason I am missing all the time?

Untrained guns? Simple. Your tracking speed can't keep up with moving ships.

What is the transversal you're seeing when firing? Can you take a screenshot or video and post it ?

What range? What ammo? What fit? Are you paying attention to transversal?

Guns certainly have the ability to apply more damage to a target than missiles, but they do care a bit more about some basic math.

Guns have 4 values that affect their chance to hit:
Tracking Speed
Signature Resolution
Optimal Range
Accuracy Falloff

Tracking speed is how good your guns are at following your target, the faster they are moving the harder it is to track.

Signature Resolution is how big targets its meant to track, big sig res and small target makes it harder to track.
Sig res is there to make it hard for big ships to kill small ships in 1 hit or not hit them at all.

Optimal range is how long range your guns will have 100% chance to hit (before calculating tracking)

Accuracy Falloff is additional range you can hit in but will have a miss chance, at optimal you have 100%, at optimal+falloff you have 50%, at optimal+2xFalloff you have 6% and close after it reaches 0%.

To keep track of this in combat you need 2 important values on your overview, Angular Velocity and Range.
Angular velocity is at what speed (in rad/sec) your target is moving around you. This number can be compared directly to your guns tracking.

Its best if you try to keep your distance within optimal but in some cases (if you have long falloff) its better to stay at some distance to keep the tracking down.

If you still cant hit try fitting some Tracking Enhancers to low slots or Tracking Computers to mid slots.

EDIT: You say you use 650mm guns, those are long range guns which have really low tracking, maybe try 425mm autocannons?

EDIT2: Its Angular Velocity, not radial.

"Lvl1s" + "650mms"

You're trying to hit frigs with artillery, with low skill and probably no tracking mods. Had you tried to hit them with cruise/torp out of your phon, you'd also do hardly any dmg due to explosion radius. Not sure if serious...Roll
