If the majority of your effort and money has gone into the few items being generated by yule lads, you're doing it wrong anyway.

The only good thing out of all that crap I got was the Fedo slug... Best gift... Rest like 25 T1 hobs or miner 2 drone or a prototype cloak or stupid shuttle craft...

I dunno who got all those T3 hulls but Santa was nice to them... Then again I might be on the naughty list for CCP so I get rocks and boxers for presents. Blink

I appreciate your infinitely enlightening, constructive, productive counterargument/explanation/solution to the situation I described.

oddly i found his sense of despair at the entitled masses and his vision of thousands of eve forum players telling their friends and family that their christmas gifts weren't of sufficient material value came accross most clearly.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

Weren't a lot people ticked off last year that we got those alliance cards, button BPO's and things like that? They were complaining that CCP gave us nothing useful. So this year they do and people complain.

I think the OP needs to STFU and stop moaning. The Christmas gifts have been utter crap so far, so no-one has lost anything because I'd never have bought it in the first place.

Jesus! Find something significant to b*tch about.

Here's another thing.
How many of these items were given out? What does that compare to the volume currently on market, the volume sitting in inventories, and the rate of production across New Eden?
I'm willing to bet that the number is actually relatively small compared to these metrics. Keep in mind that these items are given only to active accounts where the player bothered signing into the site and redeeming the items in the first place. Not only that, but not everyone even gets the same items.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

And on top of that, those of us who have done all that only to see its just general odds and mods, have not even bothered redeeming them. I would be surprised in more than 60% of people who claimed them, actually redeemed.

Does CCP realize that they're destroying whole industries with this crap they're giving away? Does the thought even manage to pass through their head?

Thanks, CCP, for screwing over your industrial base and the people that invested in blueprints and spent a countless amount of time in producing the stuff that you decided to give away, staring drunk at your computer screens.

The nice things about previous giveaway events is that you gave away stuff that couldn't necessarily be produced. Snowballs that melt, launchers that are only given away once and can not be produced, Genolution implants, stuff like that. But this year you thought it would be a fun idea to flood the market with random stuff and screw over people who actually spent their time producing it.

What happened to the player-made EVE we knew so well?

EDIT: In other words...

Is the "industrial base" that hard up that the junk the Yule Lads have been handing out matters? Don't tell me, you had the Jita market cornered on Expanded Cargohold IIs and prototype cloaks. *strokes his Fedo*

I have no problem with unique gifts. Funny things, that CCP has thought out, either something neat or to give us a laugh, or to laugh at themselves (boots.ini, A Tank Of Honor) - it would be so interesting and fun to see CCP give these sort of things out! It would remind us that, hey, we're a member of this community, and these things would mark that we played EVE during this time. These things are fun!

But I don't think you realize the problem here. You're dismissing the importance of "Expanded Cargohold IIs and Prototype Cloaks". Someone - perhaps many people - spent hours of time investing in those. Mining, building, producing, selling. This is what makes EVE so interesting. Everything of significance is player made. But when CCP floods the market like this - they completely destroy everything those people have worked for if they produced these items. These people, who originally contributed to the market and availability of these items, have now lost a tremendous amount of time and ISK. In essence, what they have worked for has now become absolutely worthless (basic economics). This is what I mean when I say CCP has screwed over the industrial base that produced these items. I don't think I would be wrong at all in saying this.

Legitimacy of a market economy is absolutely essential to maintain proper function of that market economy.

CCP, these gifts don't contribute much to the game. Why not give us something meaningful? Something unique - that would make us remember the eventful things in EVE over the past year? Something that reminds us that we are part of a massive community, a unique community, something that reflects over the year?

Why give us anything at all? The developers of this game are not required to give you a thing during this holiday season but have instead decided, yet again, to give out a random series of gifts to every account for a period of twelve days. Your market games and industrial issues will be resolved in a short period of time though your attitude of entitlement might take quite a bit longer to come back to center.

I was looking forward to the flood of these on the market at possibly ultra low prices. Buy up as much as I can and hold onto 'em for when the market reboots. Or buy 'em extremely cheap and melt them down for a profit on minerals or to use for my own building projects.

Unfortunately I haven't really seen this huge drop to make it happen... so CCP helped me a tad by giving me a small load of ore!

Gifts should always be a random roll on the entire loot table. Would prevent any industry from tanking and create a massive amount of excitement due to the occasional person getting a titan or some other thing...

Confirming that eve is dying again, because apparently giving out 800 Gneiss to everyone is enough to nuke the entire economy.

I got lost in thought... it was unfamiliar territory.

Im more concerned about the massive amount of clicking I had to do get all the days rewards across my many accounts...Does CCP not consider their mulitple client customers in these kind of janky events?!?!??!

The Yule Lads story and information (poems and stuff) was good though....
