POCOs or COCOs?

Will I be able to anchor a POCO as an individual who is in a larger corporation without director roles?

I must say that I was a bit annoyed when I learned that I couldn't anchor a POS because the "player owned station" was actually a "corp owned station". The corp doesn't want to give anchoring roles to everyone in the corp because then they open the corp up to having someone go around and un-anchor all of the corp equipment. Are POCOs actually going to be COCOs?

I would love to play around with POCOs, but my corp doesn't give a damn about PI. I view PI as a personal activity that I do by myself when nobody in my corp is online.

No, POCOs are tied to your alliance/corporation.

POCOs are going to be exclusively in low/null space. That being said, if you are planning on using POCOs in low/null space you can at the whim on the corp that owns the POCO. The way I see it one of two scenarios will play out:
The POCO owners lock you out of using their POCO
or
The POCO owners allow you to use it at a tax rate. You might lose some profits but you will have access to the higher-than-average low sec PI yield.

This devblog shows that the corp could add you with certain standings thus reducing your tax rates. You might have to make some friends in other corps and learn to fly a blockade runner ( Amarr, Gallente, Caldari, Minmatar )

Lastly, you wreck someone's POCO and put up one for your corp. That might involve talking up the benefits of owning one to your corp though...

I live in a wormhole. I do PI in my corp wormhole. If I don't set up POCOs in there, nobody else will. I guess I'm going to have to haul the POCOs in and then pester the directors until someone anchors them for me, and then pestering them some more when they don't bother to configure it correctly. Sounds wonderful.

Have someone in your corp with roles anchor them for you? But without sufficient rights you will not be able to anchor anything for your corporation.

Or you could create an alt with Corp. Management 1 and Anchoring 1 (3 would be better), and a million ISK and create your own one-man corp and have your alt anchor it for you. If the POCO looks like it will come under attack or you get bored of the income you could transfer it to your main's corp.

As to your quote. You can't exactly fault anyone on the 'player owned station' name... Player's can call things whatever they want, it doesn't make it so. The game refers to them as Control Towers and Starbase Structures... POS's are just what WE call them.

That's actually not a bad idea. It's still a bit of a hassle, though.

Sadly, CCP seems to be creating another way to make null/low sec all about the big alliances/corp owning things. The twist this time is that it is spilling over to the WH dwellers.

If your directors and CEOs are that bothered by your PI then maybe you should look into a different corporation. I can't imagine how if you got the POCO and you hauled it to your WH why then a CEO or director could not spend a few minutes anchoring and configuring the POCO.

Just an update, from the original Dev blog.

Quote:
A Customs Office can only be owned by a player corporation and only players with Station Manager role can edit the settings of an operational Customs Office. A player with the role "Config Equipment" can perform the upgrade from Gantry to Customs Office.

You could just leave the NPC CO alone and continue doing PI as usual. But, if u really want to play with POCO's, just ask a director to give you anchoring roles for 30 mins. Giving you the roles shouldn't be an issue as you wouldn't be able to unanchor anything if the corp knows how to set up it's stuff. The worse you could do would be to online and offline mods.
