I really hope that the last day's gift is "BANHAMMER!!!" for everyone that griped about the gifts.

I don't care what the people who didn't complain get, because I maintain that I don't expect anything. If I get an awesome gift... cool. It'll go in my collection of one-time-only gifts in Oursulaert. If I get a mundane gift... just as well. It'll prolly get bolted to one of my ships, and eventually be available to be scooped from my wreck by the man or woman who kills me.

I remember hearing about a special shuttle that goes 20 au/s. Probably a troll though.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I'm pretty sure that was actually a thing. I have never seen one, and I don't remember what it was called.

Also, there were Hellhound Drones... gods, those things were uber.

This is why with gifts, even for kids, you should only buy what you would like. That way if they reply with "Don't like it", which tbf kids do a lot just to see what you'll do - you can snatch it back and yell, "Fine! I was hoping you'd say that!" You do have to talk to children on their own level sometimes. Release your inner child!

Lots of phrases I keep seeing floating on GD at the moment like juvenile, childish, entitled, whiny. Uhuh, yeah people can be like that, what a shocker. It's not even just here; they are like this everywhere. What I find slightly immature is the inability to rise above it and ignore those sentiments, it's almost like a whole group of digital parents are flailing about in GD. Probably at people a similar age.

Really, when children start behaving like this, does bellowing "GOOD GOOD YOU ARE BEING SO CHILDISH, GROW UP!" actually work? I thought "good parenting" and/or maturity was rising above it, ignoring them, maybe demonstrating by setting an example. Continually slapping other people down and playing the old "do you know how old I am" seems. Well, odd.

Stretch your mind back to when you were 15 say. Parents try this tactic. Disdaining all forms of logic, because pffft god how boring, you reply: "Well FINE! I hate you too!! Whateveeeeer." *slam door* etc and flounce about. Really this is so much more fun than "Oh, yeah I see your point. You are completely right. I feel bad now. I'll try to be a better, more logical person in future. I feel more mature already just by saying that."

You came to a forum on an internet spaceship game and seem to expect a sensible debate from everyone. What's wrong with a bit of variety?? The ragiest posters are absolutely hilarious. Honestly, all this maturity stuff. It's like being at an orgy with your parents standing and pointing going "Ohhh, that's disgusting. They're doing it all wrong, hang on I'll go correct that." Cringe.

That is exactly what I think of, every time someone complains about a gift.

I got a car for my birthday when I was 12. It was a '73 Datsun 240Z. The engine was blown, the paint looked like crap, the interior was torn to ribbons, and it reeked of cigarettes and shame.
I adored that car from the moment I laid eyes on it, and immediately set to work on bringing it back to life.
At 13 years old, I had successfully rebuilt my first engine.
4 years later, I would proudly drive it to school, every day. I had the coolest car out of anyone until some jackass rich kid got a '75 Porsche 911... then I slapped on a carburetor upgrade, stripped out the radio, swapped out the cam, and handed him his ass on Mt Charleston. Then, I had the coolest car, once again (I would later find out that same year, some Japanese dude wrote a comic book where two guys like to race eachother in an old Z and a 911... I am still convinced it was actually about me and that rich kid)
I made out with the football captain's girlfriend in that car. Everyone wanted to ride home with me when school let out, but there was only one seat, and I had a strict "females, only... occasionally, me best mate" rule.

I still have that car, 22 years later. I still adore that car. It's now a 400 bhp demonic beast machine that I am completely convinced is alive.

The moral of the story is if someone gives you a gift... appreciate it. Even if everyone else thinks it's a total pile of junk.

I haven't received any gifts yet. Because I've not bothered to go to a station to claim them. Smile

Yes, I do get that you are aged. Basically the same age as me. And are now almost pontificating on an internet forum about the immaturity of people whining about gifts from CCP Troll Devs on a spaceship game. I mean, they quite literally dressed up and rubbed mud on faces, how obvious do they have to make it. Bahaha. Never stop trying with the moral lessons tho, bless.

I do agree about appreciating gifts but. BUT. When they are bad, and some are, ahaha the response. I know 'people' who received irons, hoovers, pans, cutlery ~ basically domestic slavery equipment ~ from their 'better halves'. THE RAGE. They never forget, or forgive, or stop ranting about it. Troll gifts are always awesome, and you should be able to detect them ~at your age~. You can always rewrap them and pass em on to people you don't rly like and watch them splutter. What's not to like.

CCP are naughty. Very naughty. Super trolls of eve. I don't know why people feel the urge to defend them because tbh, when they do stuff and people rage - some of them are giggling. Maybe even firing up their alts to stir up more outrage. LOOK AT WHAT WE DID, BE OUTRAGED. Don't spoil their 'gifts' with your ~logic~ and ewww, being all nice and stuff.

Watch this anyway, pretty much sums up eve, teenagers, men (not many pass beyond this stage), women (stroppy is an accolade, not an insult, remember) life in general. You have all this to look forward to with your kids!

Your point is seen. But, bear in mind that some (all) bittervets can't help but toss out a "get off my lawn" speech, when things like this happen.

But you gotta admit, that was a pretty cool story about my car (better love story than Twilight?)....

I'm enjoying just reading about the Yule Lads.

Wacky tradition....but still makes more sense then a fat guy going through chimneys to get into peoples houses.

Iceland also has a holiday where you barge into a complete stranger's house, unannounced, and eat waffles with them.

Well that kind of tradition I have it on pretty good authority originated in the far snowy north where the houses are buried in snow and the chimney is the easiest way for the village shaman to get in. His reindeer just park on the roof which is ground level from the snow.

No flying needed.

Wrong. I care about his kids. Just because that's how I roll. And I've never met them and never will. I daresay there's a whole bunch of people who care about them. And if you have kids I care about them as well, but I'm particularly concerned for them as I've had a glimpse into the content of OPs heart, and now I've a glimpse into the content of yours.

I hope you are strapped in that high horse of yours, lest you break your fool neck falling off of it.

It's very telling of your views on character that of the two posts ( mine and Slave A00073078's), it's mine you choose to rebuke.
Now I firmly, yet gently, confronted Slave for what was obviously a horrendous mean-spirited post. And did so while genuinely expressing care also for his family. And for this you call me a fool. Now a fool is not someone who can't learn, but a fool is someone, who, seeing wisdom or righteousness and recognizing it as such, deliberately rejects it. Judge yourself which side of that divide you fall in. But as for me, I will risk and suffer those who will attempt to pull me into their self-imposed morass of amorality and nonjudgmental bs. And whose horse is higher here? Mine or yours?
If I seemed to be self-righteous in what I stated, I apologize and assure you that's not the spirit in which I posted. I was shocked at the venom in Slave's post. If you are wanting all to be silent in confronting such, you ask all to be silent partners in it's continuance. But "blows from a friend may be trusted more than the kisses of an enemy".

Thankfully, this is only a standing policy, because my daughters have never dared to be that ungrateful.
What I'm trying to say is there are a lot of grown folks on the forums who are less mature than 10 and 9 year old girls.

How does that make you feel?

You lot: "But, Gara... we pay 15$ a month to play this game... we deserve rewards."

Me: "Ishkabibble*! First of all, my daughters have to put up with my ridiculous antics. You have it easy. If you think I'm insufferable on the forums, you should see me in real life. Cartoon characters are more realistic than me. Second... it's gotta be that "everyone gets a trophy" crap my idiot country has been doing that causes this stupid mentality. This is EVE. "No Child Left Behind" has no power here. You do NOT get a trophy for participating... you get to update your clone and buy a new ship. Post your loss, and HTFU."
**mic drop**

*= that means "bulls**t" or "nonsense"

So your kids pay $15 a month to live at your home?

TLDR, and you opinion and butt kissing is meaningless in this game...

You must be new, here. I am amazing. Everyone knows that, by now.
Whether I am amazing in a good way, or a bad way, is entirely up to each individual subjected to me and my antics.

And, no... my kids don't pay rent. But now that you mention it... when they are old enough to go to college, but don't. THEN, they can pay $15 a month to live in my house. That's a stellar idea for an alternative method to keep my account subbed. Too bad I have to wait 8 years to implement it.
