CCP, mere hours left to save the Sun...

Crucible (at the time of writing this) is only seven days away, and I haven't looked forward to an expansion of EVE as much as this since it was only seven days 'til Apochrypha... but... :(

I've been posting away on the Test-server Feedback forum for the past three days, because you've 'nerfed' the new Warp-tunnel effect, by no-longer distorting the Sun as you fly towards/past it... and after chatting with an FX programmer today, on Sisi, I'm concerned that it looks like you've 'rationalised it away' as it were...

Kind of like the way you seemed to rationalise-away the old Cyno effects, when you replaced them with the warp-bubble-effect from WH's...

Cyno effects, and even engine trails, are now making a comeback because (in essence...) awesome special effects are 'awesome.' --- Even just look at how popular the new 'Missing shots'-effects are.

The Art Director has already said that it'd be a simple enough matter to switch it back on, so please... go for it.

Seeing a Solar body being visually ripped and torn during warp might not be 'realistic' but it's bloody good.

I don't want to sound like a CCP suckup, but this is really a moot point compared to the positive changes.

The only dissapointment I have is that there is no longer Red & Blue Shift.

Red & Blue Shift made me happeh

(Edit; not so much "Moot" as a point, more as unimportant [hence moot lol], it would still be neat to have)

The pie is a tautology

No red/blue shft is a bug.

Moot point? Fair enough... I don't want to down play any of the positive changes, because this expansion is shaping-up to be tremendous. Which is why I asked (chat log in other thread) how much work it'd be to switch the effect back on.

Apparently it'd be virtually trivial, so all I'm saying is please do it...

As for Red/Blue shift, that was (as far as I recall) acknowledged already as a bug, and as far as I can tell, it's actually back already - just a good sight fainter than it used to be... but even that could be 'rationalised-away'... not that it should. In my opinion at least, "Awesome FX are Awesome..."

I was disappointed when I loaded up sisi to find the new warp effect no longer distorted the sun, because it is an awesome warp effect and seeing it rip up celestial bodies is extremely cool.

The thing is, you only see planets occasionally during warp and for not that long, but the sun? Yeah you kinda see that the entire warp and it was pretty mesmerising to see it distorted throughout the entire warp.

Also engine trails, I like a lot, but why not during warp? I imagine it would be really cool visually to see them extend for infinity behind you as you take several seconds to cross light years of space. I think it would put emphasis too on just how fast you're actually going.

The main thing I dislike though is that CCP seem to make these artistic choices that are the complete opposite of what most people seem to agree on, on the forums anyway.

Just logged into Sisi to check that for you...

1. Log in, and find a bit of space that allows you to warp without having any nebula behind you.
2. Warp to something that's as far away as possible.
3. Look behind you as you warp...
4. As you approach your maximum speed, you'll notice space getting 'red-er' behind you. But not for long...
5. It gets blue in front, but that's not as easy to see because of the 'tunnel'...

Lots of things aren't realistic in EVE..like wtf can our ship's camera drone get outside of warp bubble, and such. So for the sake of "awesome factor" I fully endorse bringing back the ripped sun effect!

CCP, you really need to bring back the sun warp effect. it really is one of the best effects you guys have come up with.

High-traffic systems like Jita would implode if engine trails were warp-persistent. Besides which, I think displaying engine trails and the warp tunnel is kind of 'overkill', graphics-wise.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

I support this feature 100%.

No, Jita would not implode, but your client might.

Everything outside the warp tunnel need to be visually ripped about, makes more sense to exclude the sun from this?!

The effect of the sun in warp was great and needs to come back. Getting rid of it was simply a bad art decision, swallow pride and put it back in please.
