I gave them socks. They are safe from being eaten by the Yule Lads. That's the best gift a father can give.

I didn't appreciate socks when I was a younger but now it's on the top list of gifts I can get.

True fact. I hated getting clothing as a kid.

My partner bought me a new nightgown for Haukknah (I got mah presents on the 5th muaahaa!) and it was the best gift ever.

I have just the thing Twisted
Teletubbies Onesies

We should totally send him that, with the caveat that he has to wear them to work and document doing so in a devblog.

I love getting clothes as gifts. Saves me from having to buy them myself. Last year, my girlfriend bought me a replica of Tom Baker's scarf. I wear it often. VERY often.
So often in fact, that she has actually asked me to stop.

It's getting harder and harder to tell the troll tears from the legit kind.

I'll tell you this though, if my kids whined about war decs ruining their EVE, I would march them straight down to the nearest shelter and force them to donate all their ISK.

With any PvP alliance, you're always going to draw in carebear corps that figure "oh, well they will protect us because we're friends." It happens, and everyone knows it does.

One thing the overpowering majority of General Tso's members has in common with eachother is that we just want to have fun playing a fun game. Most of the core members are bittervets (myself included) who have long since begun caring less about our reputation, and more about how much we enjoy the game.

When a member of a Tso's corp cries on the forums about dumb crap like war decs, it is usually safe to assume he doesn't represent the overall attitude of 3XXXD.

the problem with gifts is that they escalate from year to year. back in the old days getting a free remap was awesome, and could have a mayor impact on your year. now days CCP has to keep upping the ante to keep the crybabies happy.

next year they will have to give out twice as much, and honestly, at the current rate we should start to be concerned about the effect this has on the "sandbox".

Bullseye my fellow countryman. And even more than this, it's the "the powers that be are gonna supply us with free cell phones, gasoline and even pay my mortgage now that this president is in office mentality". And we're behind the curve with the entitlement mentality relative to the rest of the western world, but catching up. I understand such things as faction frigates were given out last year, and perhaps some people are disappointed, but they aren't even done giving out the gifts yet. I lost a BS when the socket closed while doing a L4 mission and CCP denied my petition. I'm not pitching a fit about that. Geez, we need to shut up and just be grateful we have internet and can play a great MMO. On second thought, maybe not. I'm 50 years old and can remember when we actually had to go outside to have fun and there was no internet. Or PCs. Those were the days.

This is why I am a strong advocate of CCP taking a firm stance on gift items. What I honestly propose is that from now on, for Christmas and EVE anniversary, give us avatar items. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. Other than the obligatory Fesitval Launcher and Snowballs/Fireworks.
There could be a package of special items available through the EVE Store for the cost of, say, a PLEX, that could contain special edition ships and extra avatar items. Let the gimmie-gimmies cry about "premium content" all they want. This is out of hand, and it needs to stop. I'm tired of seeing the posts demanding more and better free crap.

Green has the right of it. Before the Apotheosis, we got bonus remaps on anniversary and snowball launchers on Christmas, and NOBODY complained about that. Give us avatar items, from now on. If you want to give us more, ask us to redeem a PLEX in exchange for it. I'm willing to pay, especially if it makes the QQ'ers mad.

Major Xadi, goodpoaster of my heart now.

Damn straight too. I've spent some time in various assorted Hells On Earth, and it really makes you thankful for what you have. Seeing a little kid so sick with malnutrition that they can't even eat really puts a perspective on our little internet spaceship squabbles. People literally grinding sticks into sawdust, to make psuedo-bread to eat.

We gots it good, and I for one am thankful.

I can name one "bad place" I've been to that trumps all.

"Iraq?"
"No."
"I thought you were in the war, Gara?"

Thankfully, this is only a standing policy, because my daughters have never dared to be that ungrateful.
What I'm trying to say is there are a lot of grown folks on the forums who are less mature than 10 and 9 year old girls.

How does that make you feel?

You lot: "But, Gara... we pay 15$ a month to play this game... we deserve rewards."

Me: "Ishkabibble*! First of all, my daughters have to put up with my ridiculous antics. You have it easy. If you think I'm insufferable on the forums, you should see me in real life. Cartoon characters are more realistic than me. Second... it's gotta be that "everyone gets a trophy" crap my idiot country has been doing that causes this stupid mentality. This is EVE.
