My first Ghost Site.... :'(

So as a new player.. I am just cruising around in my Catalyst... entering Den's Refuges, etc... and I come across a place called "Research Facility"....

Get a warning popup as I enter... googled it while warping.. released it is a Ghost Site...
No Relic / Data analyser on this ship.... what a waste.... - boo !

Lesson learned... will bookmark and comeback with the correct ship :)

Damn I was half expecting a "I got blown up." story :-P

I've never seen a Ghost site, do they start off as cosmic signatures to scan down or are they anomalies?

They're anomalies. Its a quick in-and-out sort of thing.

Quick in and out sort of thing..they are not. At least not in null..they are in, fail, explosion. If you are lucky you live long enough to get scrammed by the rats that spawn. They only dps you for a short time then dissapear, but they are not easy to tank, and anything less than a tank cruiser will die horribly.

The time you enter the system to the time you warp out of the ghost site to your outbound destination should be between 3-4 minutes tops. That's a quick-in-and-out.

So far what ive read and experienced myself with them the timer is pretty random, ive cleared only 3 sites so far but all of them only gave me enough time to hack and loot one tower and then blow up.

Generally if you see an anomaly on scan that doesnt need probing down and it says either covert or hidden its a ghost site, they spawn quite a lot but people get curious and despawn/get blown up all over.

Had no problems with them in my regular cov ops anathema for relic sites. Simply fly in scan all the loot and choose the best container. Hack it and run. I never do more than 1 unless the reward from doing 2 over 1 covers my ship twice over its cost.

First one I flew into blew up as soon as I started scanning it. Didn't do anything else, just fired up the scanner. Baddies showed up, cans went boom, baddies disappeared. I just sat there saying, "WTF?!?!" Lol

I was scanning with a buddy in -0.7, we found a ghost site and he jumped in with his Stratios. He scanned, did one can, pulled a 200 mil bpc off it and warped away just as the rats came in.

We didn't really time it, but I am guessing around 4 minutes or so till the rats showed up :)

Still have yet to see a ghost site in hundreds of systems. Not one.
