Just converted my trial to a full subscription. Been playing a few days so far and learning as much as I can. Looking forward to exploring the far reaches or dying, one of those. Thought I would introduce myself before logging in tonight.

Welcome to Eve Big smile

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Welcome to Eve and best advice I can give is don't take it too seriously. Loss is a big part of this game but nothing to get upset about. Just go inflict loss on others too.

Welcome to Eve, here have a 100k bounty on your head as a friendly reminder people are ALWAYS AFTER YOU. The paranoid have an advantage in this game, the rest of us have to learn it.

Beyond that have fun, don't fly what you can't afford to lose and enjoy it. Oh and have fun in your first PVP fight, this is the only game that gave me an adrenaline rush in my first few battles, no game have ever done that. And it's the same for most people. And lastly mining is boring, I highly recommend against it, missions are repetitive and you don't start making some isk till lv3's than significantly more in lv4's.

And lastly find a corp that show you the ropes and you enjoy flying with.

Oh and here have half a mil, it's not much but if you new it help you out a bit.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

I still wake up in a cold sweat some nights, clicking wildly on a phantom corp wallet.

Visions of contract ganks and lottery scams dance around in my mind like some kind of macabre ballet.

Did... did that frigate that just targeted me do so by accident?

...

Yeah, no, of course he did. No wonder he stopped locking me so quickly...

When you start driving down the freeway thinking I bet that guy swapping lanes has nanos and I wonder how long it will take to get a lock on that Honda and does that truck have scrams fitted ... then it is time to worry.

I'm most likely the second newest on here so from one newbie to another, welcome! Smile

- Ignore any initial bounty placed on you. It's absolutely meaningless and the bounty system needs work, anyway (in my opinion).
- Don't fly what you can't afford. Common sense goes a long way in this game. You don't have to be paranoid. Just stay vigilant and don't be afraid to retreat.
- I hope you enjoy reading because there's a ton of it in-game and out (especially out). It's not all bad, though (e.g. the EVE universe back story isn't too shabby).
- Don't be afraid to ask questions. The Rookie and Help chats are filled with awesome people. Just be nice. Big smile
- Do as you please. I've seen an ungodly amount of whining about 'carebears' (people who stay in high sec and, usually, just mine), but freedom is a major theme.

Have at it, man. The universe is your oyster.

If I ever saw CCP Falcon's character in real life I think I'd politely ask him to kick my ass just so I could brag about it.

Welcome. Don't be afraid to send evemails to those that ravage you asking how they beat you.

This.

When you get assploded, talk to the pilot who blew you up.

PvPers are, for the most part, interested in :gudfites: so if they can impart some wisdom to make you fight better next time, they will.

Welcome to Eve. Trust no one, but don't let that lack of trust stop you from interacting with other players. Eve is made great by the player interaction.

This. At some point someone is going to scam you or blow up your ship and your not going to like it. Just accept that these things happen and ask them how they did it, or how you can avoid it in future. Many of them may be hostile when you first open a convo with them, but this is generally because they expect you to be hostile.

That is very true, that and the other reason is they are expecting some carebear tears. But if they get the opportunity to turn a carebear to the dark side most will jump at the opportunity.
