I've gotten a little lost with the war mechanic as of late.

If aggressor declares war and corp member drops corp and joins NPC before the war begins, is that character still at war?

Nope, they get off scot free.

You can do it even while the war is ongoing.

What, you haven't tried evading a wardec by dropping to an NPC corp? Highsec people do it all the time.

I'm pretty sure you can always become not-a-wartarget by leaving your corp and (automatically) entering an NPC corp

Nope you are correct you can leave your corp at any time and no longer be a war target. the only restriction is that you cannot rejoin your for a period of time (7 days)while the war is active. But you can join another corp in the alliance at any stage

Which makes no since to me, you dropped corp and lost your roles to stop being a WT...to join right back up to be a WT again.....Personally I have no problems with people deciding to go sit the bench during a match, but I think they should be forced to be a benchwarmer for the duration.
