EVE Online overheating laptop

Hi!
Started EVE again a few days ago but ran into problems right away. I check graphics settings, drop shaders to medium and back to high (too small effect on frame rate) and keep playing. Yet very soon after that my laptop shuts down, claiming overheating (GPU, nVidia GT 630M).
Ah, well, i figure out that's a fluke and decide to clean the vents later. I keep playing and later i try adjusting graphics settings again (cloud things in some deadspace pockets are very demanding), and again my laptop shuts down from overheating. I clean the vents (and updated drivers too) and play... and after an hour or so, the laptop shuts down yet again, this time merely from playing.
Since it seems the GPU is the problem, i switch to integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000). It doesn't shut down EVE but even it does exhibit overheating symptoms (or some other issue?) with spiky, fanning graphics after a long session (CPU temp was about 80 degree C). Unfortunately playing with integrated graphics means i have to sacrifice pretty much everything to keep the game playable, including resolution (not good at all).

System specs: HP Pavilion dv7
Intel Core i5-2450M
nVidia GT 630M
6GB RAM
Win 7 64-bit

As far as i can determine, this only happens with EVE Online, other games (even games that are more demanding) do not seem to cause overheating, and that was before i cleaned my laptop's vents. And last year i didn't have any problems with EVE, with this same laptop.

So, any ideas? I'm considering i could underclock the GPU BUT i don't have any idea how to do it (i can't do from BIOS certainly, i checked). Of course since i don't have issues with other games (though i will have to make sure of this), this is not an ideal solution.

Laptops just suck, peroid. But that just me. Never have liked laptops but this link mite help. link

After checking the specs of your graphics card and EVE's minimium reg graphics card spec, it sholdn't be your card thats the problem.. Thats all the help a can give on the subject. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Good luck with your problem and hope you get it sorted out so you can keep playing EVE.

I meet the minimum system requirements (i can play comfortably with mixed settings using GPU, with integrated i have to drop the settings quite low), and i noted i could play this game last year without any issues last year, using the same laptop.

I noticed a issue with Dell laptops where the laptop will overheat and just shut down

The problem was a screwed up bios that dell admitted to.

A latest BIOS update has resolved the issue.

Im wondering if you have updated your BIOS to the latest version. Might be the same problem?
