Metric of Success

Eve has no set endgame, no forced direction and little handholding. We define our own metrics of success. For some it is the ISK we gather, for others the arsenal of ships we build, or collect to eventually fly into their fiery, but imminent destruction. What are yours?

To quietly explore without cloaks and probes whilst being left in peace by other folk. It doesn't happen very often though.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

To collect every sub-capital ship possible
(Some I know I will never have the opportunity to collect).
Big smile

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

To build a blood raider fleet (10 bhall, 40 ashm 100 cur) and make an event out of it were all of the ships get blown up

In the sense of achieving in Eve, it's "GAME OVER"

No matter how much teritory you hold, how much ISK / wealth you earn and have, or how many killmails you gain, no matter how famous / infamous you become, no matter how large the heist, no matter how many rarities you collect, no matter how much tears you extract, NO ONE will ever be able to surpass Somer's achievement.

Somer has effectively WON Eve, for they have achieved the ultimate level of success.

Somer has managed to make real money off Eve and get away with doing so.

Short term goal: make people blow up.

Long term goal: make people so angry when they blow up that they threaten me (in-game or out... not picky about which).

"Game over" goal: finally tricking a RL female into going on a second date.

Success is a word I reserve for reality. EVE is a video game. As long as I'm enjoying it, it continues to be played. Any goals I have in that game are merely the result of what I am enjoying and how I wish to go about enjoying it.

Having fun.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Actually, if you speak to Gevlon you'll find out that our metrics are all whatever he has decided is "the" metric. I think at the moment it's raw KB isk values divided by the number of participants in the battle, or more simply put, number of miners ganked solo.

I pretty much go metricless. I play for fun and stuff happens around that. Turning Maire V-2 into a hub I suppose would be a measure of success for me though.

Goons do it as well, charging people to join their forums. Where's the outrage for that? Oh, you're not really outraged, you're just jumping on the bandwagon? Sure, it was sleazy of SOMERblink to do what they did, giving away blink credit for buying GTCs, but it's no different from the Goons(or any other group who has private forum, I just don't know who else does) having giveaways of any kind on their forums. The only real difference us that SOMERblink did it in a rather public fashion.

Edit: To be clear, I don't see either as a big deal. SOMERblink stopped their stupid bonus and that's the end of it in my eyes.

For the most part, it's scoring forum victories. Although I do have a little side project I've been working on for a while. Building at least one of every ship in the game that can be built.
