Many odd graphics behaviours, all went away when I switched to DX9

I selected DirectX 11 once it became available as a launcher option, or a few days after.

For some days, everything worked fine, but then I started getting strange graphics issues, both in-game and out-of-game. Out-of-game I'd have weird transparency issues where text from one window would "sort of" appear visible on top of another window even though the first window was supposed to be behind the second. I could sort of reduce this problem, although not remove it, by frequently clicking the "Show desktop"-button on the Win7 task bar, so that I'd only ever have a single window or program (e.g. Chrome) "on top" of the desktop at any given time, but that was hugely annoying, and as I said, it didn't make the problem go away entirely.

In-game I also got lots of weird graphics errors, such as large white rays emanating from Stargates, especially in Jita.

I run Win7-64 bit, plenty of memory, fairly good 2012 graphics card, good specs overall. I run a single EVE client, but I alt+tab in and out of EVE frequently. I think I usually have the Aero thing enabled.

On a few cases, Windows asked me if I wanted to somehow downgrade graphics (it was not very specific in its question, and I don't recall any mention of "Aero") because my computer had performance issues (even though, with its spects, there shouldn't be any!), and I've said yes. That may have reduced one or both problems, but ddin't make them go away.

I was seriously worried that my 20 months old graphics card was dying.

Then I switched to DirectX 9, and all the problems went away, both in-game and out-of-game. So there is some kind of DX11 bug here, maybe interacting negatively with Win7 (perhaps only 64bit), that somehow affects out-of-game Windows graphics too.

I've been experiencing the same thing, i haven't tried downgrading yet and to be honest i don't really want to... but this is definitely a issue with the eve client.. happens both when i multi-box and when i single box... on two of my computers.

After having a client open for some time the chat window started to fade in and out + blink a little.. sometimes when i resize the chat window everything becomes fine but sometimes it just keeps escalating

i have basically the same specs as the original thread owner

You get graphics errors outside of EVE too, while EVE is running? In the Windows interface?

The graphics errors, both in Win7 and in EVE, appear to have gone away after I updated my graphics card driver. I've switched back to DirectX 11, and haven't seen any problems. I'll report back in several more days, if they still haven't come back.
