Can we turn off the new jump animation?

TRavelling from say Ammar to Jita in a dual hyper rigged Stiletto pretty much all you get is the jump animation the whole way :D

just saying

... or you can F10 and travel in map view. Curiously F10 gets rid of the annoying animation but does not stop the graphics card lock up on jump that occurs on older machines. Apparently the animation still runs in the background even though you are looking at the map.

Simply adding the ability to "turn it off" is a cop-out, and leaves us in the position where we have a sub-optimal animation in game that some people are unhappy with and choose not to use. The jump transition, much like the warp tunnel, is here to stay as a replacement for loading bars, and therefore it has to be good for everyone, and has to function as intended.

Then give us an option to switch back to the loading bar. Why does this thread needs to go for 85+ pages, and there is still no solution.
Not even talking about that this is annoys many of us in the past 6 month.
I have even noticed that in the past 6 month my activity have dropped significantly. If there is no fix soon, then it could happen that the subscription will no longer extended. Sad

a big difference between extroverts and introverts,
is the amount of sensory input that their brain stems need.

extroverts have a less active brain stem.
so extroverts desire a large amount of sensory input,
before they have had enough,
and do not seek further sensory input for the day.

and when they are sensory overloaded, they recover from it far more quickly.

introverts have much more activity in their brain stem.
so they can sometimes tolerate little to no sensory input,
before the sensory input becomes like burning agonizing pain to them.

not unlike an unfilled cavity, where every breath of cold air is pure suffering.
or being lit on fire like a torch,
while sneering extrovert demons throw fuel onto the fire with every worthless noise they make.

and when they are sensory overloaded, it takes a very long time to recover from it.
like a burn wound that refuses to stop hurting, hour after hour of the day.

and when a game is causing this effect to them, they tend to not talk about it to anyone on the forums.
they instead leave the game, and never come back.

because that is what introverts do.

that and forums are for barking dogs,
that are in love with the smell of their own ****.

extroverts understand the needs of introverts far less,
than introverts understand extroverts.

and the majority of the eve online developers that we have observed through incessant youtube video's,
appear to be extreme extroverts.

so of course the developers are inhumanly insensitive to the needs of their almost completely silent introvert players.

who knows how many thousands of potential players have been chased away from eve online,
by worthless repetitive visual effects,
that should NEVER have been implemented without an off option somewhere in the settings.
and do not make practical sense most of the time, either.

it is not like off switches for graphical effects are hard or expensive to code.
and the only players who would use them, are the players who absolutely need/want/choose them.
so all that it is is giving someone what they want, when they want it, as badly as they need it.

it is the height of stupidity,
that i am not allowed to turn off the flashing on a shield hitpoint bar,
in a game that i pay good money for,
to play in my free time.

if an eve online developer walks into my room,
and punches me in the face every second that those annoying triangles complete a cycle around the targeted enemy ship,
than am i expected to continue giving them my money ?

world of tanks does not do that much, if at all.
and if it does, than it is so rare and brief that you do not notice it.
it is not a strobe light that goes off in your face for a 20 plus minute long mission.

maybe that is part of why world of tanks has hundreds of times more players.
introverts can stand to look at its absence of jarring flickering visual spam.

This is hardly only an Eve / CCP issue, with the difference being most professional developers provide options and methods to turn off extraneous effects due to usability concerns. Particularly when developing for a mass quantity of product users. Even notoriously fruity and eccentric developers managed to address the same issue within 3 point releases spaced a few weeks apart, following a recent OS update.

In the same breath it's hardly only a software issue, anything involving cameras and movement where the audience is stationary may invoke this sort of issue. If singular in occurrence or rare, it can be used for dramatic effect as per the

Unfortunately, while the first or second time the effect is employed it's novel and only vaguely (purposefully) jarring, a UI with forced camera usage that features it prominently can trigger 'Blair Witch' genre issues in a fair percentage of the population.

I'd love to see a short animation of us leaving stations! But I don not like the Jump animation at all. It doesn't even make any sense. Weird spinning cloud tunnel in space? I love the *warp* effect just fine, just not the jumpgate effect.

Honk in this thread https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4066998#post4066998 if you still have hope they will respond with something other than flippant arrogance and not the best service industry attitude. Let them know their service has ceased being pleasant. Apparently they're reading the linked thread.

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

There's still no old system, right? Probably take too long to make a new new system.

It's almost like a lot of those 86 pages aren't all individual customers but the same players again and again.
Just because some people don't like it is not a good reason for CCP to remove it, and is especially not a good reason for CCP to give the old loading bar back.
This is an immersion increasing thing. Which is good. So stop simply raving for it's removal and work out how to make the jump animation better without 'give us an off switch'. I mean, I want an off switch to being shot, because I don't find it fun being shot when I'm not in a PVP ship. But I'm not going to get that because it would be terrible for EVE.

No, you're wrong, ass kissing internet tough guy fanboi.Roll Why don't you peruse all 86 pages and total up all the people who want an off button? You will find that it is not just a few people, and plenty of distribution between carebears and pvpers. Your reductio ad absurdum argument is a load of ****.

As for me/us "making it better" wtf? What? I'm not a programmer or a computer artist. But I am a current customer that knows there are plenty of buttons to modify the game. For instance the buttons to turn off ship explosions, turret effects, missile effects, etc. apparently do not hurt the "immersion increasing thing." So you come up with a better argument as to how having a toggleable off button for the gate animation and autoscan animations will hurt the game or be unfair to those that "like" the animations. How will an off state on those in my client negatively impact the on state in yours?

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Well, it's the fourth, you know what that means -

We are up to seven months and counting with no progress or update! Way to keep a string unbroken, CCP!

(translation note for anyone from CCP who actually reads this: this is NOT something to be proud of!)

Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.     _ - Kina Ayami_

Would those be the dev posts on and around June 26th? The dev posts which acknowledged there is a problem, and which promised further improvements and updates? The dev posts which solicited player feedback for specifics of the problem and possible solutions? The same dev posts which to date have not had one single follow up?

Because those are the last dev posts I can find, and they were hardly the end of anything. Rather they were supposed to be the beginning of something. Instead, all dev activity on this has vanished without a word. In my book, if you make a promise to your customers, you owe them one of two things: either delivery on that promise, or an explanation of why you can't or won't fulfill your word. Silence is not an acceptable response, nor is it an option for those who would hold CCP accountable to their own promises.

Sorry I disagree. This should be bumped up, till they change it.

Makes me sick like many others, so why should we just deal with it? Especially in a paid subscription game?

Admitted introvert signing in.

+1 to an optional disable.

Utterly confused as to why people would argue against this. You can leave it as is and have a widely unhappy (paying) playerbase, or you can make everybody happy by providing choice.

Always had CCP down as a progressive company; lets hope that still holds true.

Feb 4th 2014 - that's right, it's been eight months since this animation was implemented, more than seven months since we were promised improvements, and there has been no evidence of any progress made.

Thank you CCP, for demosntrating just exactly how concerned you are for your customers' wellbeing, and what your promises are worth.
