OP: Don't you want to use your anger on something more worthwhile? High-sec NPC salvage sucks, which is the only place you need to worry about concord, flags, etc. In null (and low to an extent), you shoot the people taking your salvage. That is how you counter ninja-salvagers.

Null plexing (in my admittedly limited experience) is more problematic. I tried for a couple of weeks and never got that golden drop. I also lost three blingtars to PvPers (I'm on the other end of that more often than not, so no hard feelings). I could have been a lot more careful, but warping out everytime there's +1 in local is not my idea of fun. Are you factoring in the dud drops, the time you spend hiding from PvPers who want to turn your mission boat into a KM into your isk/hr?

I remember this being a HUGE deal a few years ago. Even corps set up to do nothing but steal salvage. Annoyed the hell out of me too.

Then I moved out of a mission hub.
Then agents were revised so you could get level 4 Combat agents all over.
Then the noctis and s/m/l rigs, which caused the market to tank.

Then, there was no more problem. In fact, I couldn't stop laughing at some guy who salvaged my wrecks the other day for some isk scraps.

Seriously, you missed the whine boat on this one by about two years or more.

Why aren't we allowed to fire on pirates stealing our salvage?
I just spent an hour clearing GE only to lose all my salv to someone in a cormorant

I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to steal from me, just that I should be allowed to fight back if they do

Problem isn't people stealing salvage. Problem is you think the salvage is yours to begin with.

To fix the problem simply stop believing the salvage is yours. Nothing stopping you from salvaging the wrecks before someone else does.

This kind of OP is exactly the kind of motivation I need to quit faction war and head up to the mission runners in Motsu Pirate

It's been a LONG time since I've seen one of these threads.

Per CCP Mitnal:
CCP Mitnal wrote:
"Our policy on this is extremely clear... Salvaging is a mini-profession within EVE and does not constitute stealing."

Per GM Faolchu :
GM Faolchu wrote:
Salvaging other peoples wrecks.... This is an intended game mechanic and is in no way an exploit. People salvaging your missions npcs or the player you just blew up are doing nothing wrong. The players are salvaging what is effectively floating rubbish in space and Concord places no value on this wreckage.
Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along. If salvaging some wreckage gets them a few more ISK someone will do it, it doesn't matter who just blew it up.

Per Senior GM Ytterbium :
GM Ytterbium wrote:
Players are still completely free to salvage other pilot wrecks at will ... and doing so is not considered as an exploit.

Per CCP Prism X :
CCP Prism X wrote:
Why is stealing salvage OK? It's not. It shouldn't even be possible to move an item from your cargo-hold / hanger to another persons cargo-hold / hanger without opening a trade window. Before the salvage enters those containers it is not considered your stuff by the server code. Hence it's not stealing.

Per CCP Incognito :
CCP Incognito wrote:
Had a chat with some designers this evening.
Ninja salvaging is intended game play. It was always intended that the wrecks are public, the loot is private.
They do not see it as a problem if others salvage your wrecks.

Yes, salvage drones don't seem to attract hostile attention when deployed, so drop your salvagers, go off and fight the bad guys and whilst you are doing that your drones will collect all the scraps.

When they have done that then they are yours.

Not before.

OP, you have a bad attitude to the game and richly deserve all the flames you are attracting.

OMW shortly to "introduce" myself to your multi-billion isk ship. If you whine this much about some crap salvage, I can't wait for the tears when you lose your ship. Big smile
