You are understanding aaaaall wrong. PLEX is a very different item than others. It is real money! RMT. Assume it...

ccp needs $$ because the banks want some back...
they just spawn isk in game and buy plexes off the market...
ppl see that an start buying GTC selling for isk, because its SUCH A GOOD DEAL...
ccp got enough $$, stops buying maybe plex price crashes...

i was thinking about buying 10x gtc and sell for 1b EACH...even if i have 10+b in game...but didnt
i saw ALLOT ppl sell bulk GTC 5-10 at once...lots $$ for ccp

^This. A large part of the inflation is from people hoarding large amount of plex for their bots. Check Russian forums.

OP is completely wrong, as others have stated, rich kid buys plex, puts it on the market and the price is driven down, not up. There are multiple factors driving the price up, speculation, effects of the riots / uncertainty. In what way the riots and account cancellations effected the price is uncertain, my suspicion is that the primary ones canceling accounts were older players who have small in game wallets (burned out on pve), thus bought plex to supplement their income. After all, if you have a lot of isk, your much less likely to quit eve even if you are pissed off at ccp since your not really paying anything in RL anymore to play (like me). Rather just keep the accounts up and hope things improve.

The last factor is inflation. Especially with the addition of incursions the number of isk faucets is far in excess to the sinks. This will naturally trend plex higher.
