Ah! I have miscommunicated, my apologies; I'm talking about people who sit around high-sec in salv fit destroyers scanning down mission runners' sites and salvaging their wrecks, while the mission runner is forced to just watch, because concord wont let us fire on robbers in high sec

I'm honestly shocked so many people are for allowing this kind of behavior, I'd have expected it to fill with people sharing similar complaints. These pirates are infuriating; not everyone wants to play the lowsec game. We should be allowed to keep our peace in highsec.

Salvaging wrecks was designed as a mini profession from the ground up by CCP. They and concord view wrecks as rubbish. It's only when you activate a salvager upon that rubbish, that can have the effect of creating something worthwhile.

Hope this helps.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

Oh ok, so I take it they didn't originally intend for salvage to make up such a significant portion of a missions pay then, huh?

Salvage faster. Better yet, salvage as you fight. Yes, it can be done.

Sit down and figure out, honestly, what percentage of total ISK are you "losing" to a ninja salvager. After LP, bounties, mission rewards and time bonus, scooped loot (made even easier with a mobile tractor unit), you're losing..what, maybe 1-2 mil from a 9-10mil total mission?

I mean, if it REALLY bugs you, fit a salvager to your mission boat, and leave the frigates in the rooms alive till the last second. If someone jumps in to start salvaging your wrecks, just warp off. A salvage dessy isn't going to stand up long to 10-15 mission frigates.

No. You haven't miscommunicated. We know what you're talking about.

The fact remains: anything that leads to them actually stealing your salvage inherently lets you shoot them. You're just confused about what counts as “stealing” and “your salvage”.

Why wouldn't they? Why shouldn't salvagers be able to perform their profession without being shot at for no good reason (which is what you're asking for)?

It never was intended to be — and still isn't — a part of your mission pay, no.

Well it's only a significant part if you decide to also do that profession, at the same time as you run your mission.
But it works as CCP intended. They wished to create a mini profession and at the same time, content. This content could come in many forms, one of which is conflict over who gets to salvage a wreck first. So it's all good.

Well if it really is a problem for game play balance then I suppose I would have to agree, but I fail to see how anything in lowsec/null is supposed to even approach "fair"

I always thought the whole point of those regions was to be brutally realistic; while highsec was for people who were either starting out, or just don't have the time to be involved with the 'serious game'.

It's not. Highsec is just a place where aggression comes at a cost, that's all.

So, wait...your biggest issue thus far is that someone ninja salvaged your wrecks? Really? Even in my high sec days, I didn't go onto the forums to biatch when someone flipped a can or started looting wrecks. Jeeze, grow some balls.

you must be slow as balls to get the whole thing stolen by a cormorant that can't even use tractors.

And no, its not your salvage. Deal with it.
