Hello all.

I have played some eve, and by some i mean very little. I have been gone from eve for a long time now. Since i never got realy far, and i have more time on my hands now, i want to start fresh. I want to learn the ropes again. I have been thinking of playing minmatar amaar, maby galente. I am mainly PvE focued ( mission running and exploration ). I have played caldari before and i want to try somthing new. How are the other races in PvE?

I'm not a big PVEer, so maybe someone else can give you better details, but I'll try anyway:

Gallente are still great for PVE. Drone-work got a little more labor intensive since rats switch targets now, so your drones will get shot, but it is still very viable. The ships using blasters/railguns are still all just as good (and the Kronos only got more badass).

Amarr are good for PVE, but suffer as before from the restrictions on their damage types. I would only use them against Sanshas, Blood Raiders, or other Amarr NPCs, but i have heard of using Amarr ships to great success elsewhere, too. Some Amarr ships have become drone boats too (Prophecy, Armageddon) but I don't see them being as good as their Gallente counterparts for PVE.

Minmatar... I don't know, they confuse me for PVE. I don't understand why anyone would use them, save for being able to apply explosive damage (which you can do with some ships of other races just fine, too).

I know more about PvP, so if you need stuff on that, I can rant for hours. This is all I got for PVE, though.

1. Welcome (back) to EVE.

2. Any race can PvE. It's just a matter on how you fit the ship and what suits your playstyle.

3. Join the following channel: EVE Tutors. it's an unofficial help channel managed by some people who don't mind helping new players. Once you are in it and have a question, just ask it and it will likely be answered quickly.

They're all the same. Going one race over the other is about as impactful as a different paintjob.
And if it's SP you're thinking about, well, most significant corps expect their pilots to be crosstrained to use a variety of fittings across each race. So I wouldn't recommend starting a new character, in hopes of having a very different experience, particularly with the significant incentive to crosstrain. No need to have a lot of SP, just level 3's is good enough usually

Personal preference is Amarr. Good projection, fast ammo switching, high DPS, Plenty of durability.

Amarr get to wear a hood. To my knowledge this is the only advantage that any one race has over any other in this game.

All races can use other races ships and weapons. You get a slight headstart in the ships and weapons of your starting race, but it is only a few hours of skill time.

What is the best race? Opinions will differ and by the time you reach the skill level to fly a particular FOTM ship, it will have been nerfed by CCP. So the best advice is to take small steps, pick a frigate and a small weapon system that you like the look of and train for that, get good at it, enjoy it. Then pick a Dessies and do the same, working your way up gradually and cross training as necessary.

However, when picking the race for your character, there is one significant factor to take into consideration, what noob ship you will get! You will be given this ship everytime you dock in a pod (providing you have no other ship in that station). Bizarrly it is your race that determines which racial ship you get, not who owns the station that you dock in, so you are stuck with the same noob ship type for life and the thing is there are differences between them.

IMO the most superior is the Gallente noobship for two reason, first it has the largest cargohold and second it has a double size drone bay allowing 2 light drones or one medium, whereas any other noobship can only carry one light drone.

The most common uses you will have for noobships are as cheap Cynoships and cheap courier/transport ships. The larger cargohold is a godsend, particularly for Cynoships, such is the relevant sizes that with the necessary skills, a Velator can often light a cyno without the need for expanded cargoholds where the rest need one or even two.

Sublight speeds are largely irrelevant, you will only ever move at warp in one (and they all warp at the same speed). Armor and shields will not save you from anything other than another noobship. When it does come to a noobship fight, two Hobgoblin IIs are generally superior to any other noobship weapon system.

It is not game changing, but there is no other reason to go for another race, why gimp yourself?

All the races are good in PVE. Race really doesn't matter, especially since you can PVE with T1 ships/weapons, and it isn't hard to train into any, and every race's ship. I would suggest finding a race and name you can live with, then train away into the PVE ships you want to fly.
