After just discovering the ability to combine windows in to tabs, I was wondering what other little useful things are out there that most may not be aware of.

To target quickly, hold the "Ctrl" key and click the target you desire.

I was surprised to see some people don't know, that ctrl-click locks targets and ctrl+shift click de-selects targets.

A non-technical tip: It never hurts to be polite to people and treat them with some respect. Being disrespectful, hostile and abusive on the other will get you unwanted attention and cause unnecessary trouble. So show some basic level of civility towards your fellow pilots, even when trouble is exactly what you're looking for. You might change your mind later, but reputation and memory doesn't disappear just because you decide it's not fun anymore.

ctrl+space stops your ship from moving. Added benefit, it also stops the jump/dock command if you are already in warp.

And

Stay polite and ALWAYS ask your questions when you have them. Do not try to re-invent the wheel again, we already found out that round is the way to go.

Cntrl-A to select all, then cntrl-c to copy. Most information that is displayed in a "table" format can be selected, then copied and pasted into whatever tool or program you want. Very handy with dscanner results.

Click any name in local, then press CNTRL-A to select all and highlight all names, then go about your business in system. Whenever someone new comes into system, they will NOT be highlighted, so you can tell at a glance who the new local is.

You can assign a shortcut to open your overview settings, making it possible to change your overview settings while sitting in a station. (ESC to the settings menu, it's under the shortcuts tab).

"C" key to toggle the camera tracking - probably the most-asked question in recent months :)

Just a few off the top of my head!

There are ALOT of tips here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/1c211z/the_have_a_tip_leave_a_tip_eve_thread_round_v_the/

Some of the best:

Quote:
Configure your overview tabs. Use all 5
Good overview pack here:
http://forums.ponywaffe.org/topic/1697-sarahs-overview-pack%E2%84%A2-rel-030/

Quote:
You can drag a ship fitting into the Market quickbar.
All items are now in a sorted folder, named after the ship fitting, within the quickbar.

Quote:
You can type when having selected the 'guest' list in station and it will automatically scroll to the characters who's names start with those letters. Same with all channels

Quote:
When attacked and something is activated on you, you can target the ship that is doing that by ctrl+click on the icon over the capacitor.

Quote:
Ctrl + A in local chat when you're on a roam, and if someone else enters local, their name won't be highlighted so you will know who it is.

Too many to list :)

Ctrl-Shift click to UNLOCK a target.

Felt like a full-on newbie when I figured that one out.

C to toggle Target Tracking Camera.

EDIT : Oops already been said..

Err.. Cycle your Afterburner once as soon as you start to align when traveling in an industrial, your align time is only as long as 1 afterburner cycle. You should warp as soon as the AB shuts off.

All of these shortcuts and more can be found in the esc menu and rebound to your liking. I would especially look at the drones ones if you use drones a lot.

I've been playing EVE for almost 10 years and you know what? I discover a new tip or trick on regular basis. All the time. Sooo... yeah.

My tip... poke around a lot. Drag, left click, right click, re-arrange, check the shortcut keys in the escape menu etc.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

If I had a kitten for every time that the game had automatically combined windows into tabs when I did not want it to, I would be able to fill a swimming pool with dead cats.

Seriously, I ***hate*** this 'feature'. The number of times I will have three UI interface windows open (usually Science, Market and either Assets or my current station's cargo) and be swapping between them, only to accidentally merge two of them... ARGH!

As for a useful little tip: To overheat a specific module, shift-click that module. Very useful for when you want to overheat your warp scrambler to catch someone MWDing 12km away from you, but you do not want to risk burning out your webs and/or shield resist modules.

You can turn off auto combine. You can also set up shift+drag will combine. I think that is it, not at my comp right now to check. You can also make me info appear in it's own window instead of replacing the one you have open, I
i.e module information.

Did you know you can leave your ship and fly around in your pod at any time? I didn't until 2 years in. Figuring out how to get two ships to the same location was a logistical nightmare... then I felt really stupid.

Bold added.

Notes are forever. When someone does something significant, you can add this to their note, which is stored on server. Say you're hiding in a safespot and there is one other person in system and you keep seeing a taranis pop-up on d-scan. You can put "Flys a taranis" in their note. Years later, when you've forgotten the incident, you can look at their note and remember...

Other things you can put in notes:
- Douchbag that keeps giving newbies bad advice.
- does contract scamming in Jita.
- gave good advice--after popping me.
- I tend to put RL friend names here too.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.
