you can't prevent yourself from showing up on the instant intel channel that is "local", which is why it needs some refinements.

I don't understand your reasoning.

Is that sarcasm or are you conceding that you have no reasoning? Maybe both?

Personally I hate D-scan and Local. "SURPRISE! I'M HERE!" is much better.

You've made your opinions on the subject quite clear. Fortunately for you you already have the option of avoiding both.

James, you are a carebear, Your opinions on this subject is non existing. Please crawl back from that black rotting hole you popped out of.

Your nonchalance doesn't disguise the fact that you are backing down, which indicates that you have no reasoning. You could have just said that in the first place.

Even if it's true, we don't know how it will work. It may affect scanning ships, it may affect ships being scanned. It's possible that structure itself will be visible or that it doesn't exactly hide anything, just restricting info you're getting from d-scan to basic groups (ship, asteroid, stuff...).

Finally, it'll possibly end up not making it into the game at all. So really...

It says "Dscan Disruptor", not "Probe Scan Disruptor."

I see no problem here.

Agreed. If it is real and removes everything in range (i'm assuming is has a limited range) it has some pretty interesting implications in WH space and places even more of an importance to having good scouts/scanners in corp.

Add a mobile cloaking field generator and we have the ability to create a hidden POS...

Speaking of intrigue, this is not only useful for buffing PVE, but PVP also. Think of all those FW pilots who dscan their plexes before venturing inside to make sure noone is there, only to find he signed up for a PVP corp and he's going to get PVP whether he likes it or not.
Yes, instead of getting the lay of the land and making intelligent decisions, let's all charge around like blind mildly ******** children, crossing our fingers that we outnumber/counterfit the other guy, if there is another guy.

Flawless plan comrade.

I think you've confused my meaning with another. In any case, 'blindly' signing up for FW without first getting the 'lay of the land' is a little... misguided itself, don't you think?

which is why we make threads like this, then speculate wildly speculate wildly, and realise fozzie is reading it so if we accidentally make a half decent suggestion he might steal it.

Nooooo, dscan must stay the way it is, and dont you dare jam it in some way. We have ships that you dont see on dscan when they are cloacked and it is enough.

Also to answer OP's question, it's not a troll. Sarmatiko is very reliable about this sort of thing. He gets his information from data dumps of one of the non-public test servers (I believe the one he uses is Chaos).

And how does he access that without breaking rules? I expect something bad to happen to him soon ^.^

He and others have been doing it for years and I have no doubt that developers are well aware of it. If there aren't any penalties for dumping data from the servers now, I doubt there will be anytime soon. Besides, it's not like these dumps are harming anyone. I appreciate what Sarmatiko does a lot. The only way this can be remotely balanced is if you can't dscan from a grid with one either... no wait, that doesn't help at all, you just need a cloaked alt in the system. This is completely terrible and will eliminate all pvp outside of camps, fw and structure grinds. It is literally the end of the hunter play style once everyone starts using these because defending yourself becomes as reliable and nearly as easy as docking up whenever local isn't empty.

How can you even consider implementing this?

I'm not going to re-write all of what I posted earlier, which explains why you're wrong, just for your benefit, so I'll just link it instead.

This will be to off set some of the but hurt caused by the inevitable removal of local.
