I found this pic via a link on the Mittani's site.

It was reported at themittani.com that this may be the new crucifier. Can anyone comment on this definitively?

It's great artwork but it looks a bit too heavy to be a frig, hence the reason for my asking?

You can read the article in full here but be advised it only talks about rumoured new mobile structures for rubicon 1.1 nothing else, just an unconfirmed report that the crucifier is due to look like this.

I quite like the present look of the crucifier, though I've never flown it successfully in pvp but that's a pilot issue as opposed to a design issue.

There are ships in dire need of a redesign, as indicated in various threads about the place. Nobody has called for a redesign of the crucifier though, when the Moa and the Blackbird seem to be topping the charts of ugliness.

IMO it just looks plain wrong as an Amarr ship, it looks like a hauler/amarr version of the venture than an ewar ship.

Confirmed: I missed this due to being overtired lol, it's further on in the article

So there we have it a nice attractive amarr ship has been caldarified to compete in ugliness with the Moa.

Looks quite similar to the redesign presented at some Fanfest http://i.imgur.com/hrEOoAw.jpg

Current Crucifier looks rather terrible, new one is better but not very Amarr.

I don't know what the art guys are thinking, amarr ships tend to have beautiful curves and some elegance, this seems rather lacking.

Looks like it's getting some smexy arm shield animation. The rounded shields look like they pop up and down depending on some operation (in the release image, the top left ship is still a Crucifier though it looks different).

With the arm shields up, it should look sufficiently like a golden banana to still be called Amarr.

Looks like a T3 Amarr frigate (with a hull that bears a passing similarity to the Rifter.)

Or maybe it's a new frigate sized Marauder in Bastion mode.

But does not look amarr. Unless that view is upside down.

That is the new Einherji, the Minmatar fighter. It is used by carriers, such as the Nidhoggur.

Considering the direction of new amarr designs (Dragoon/Purifier) it actually does look upside down. Odd.

Well, I was hoping they would keep something looking like a throwback to current model (like EWar container to the right or something) in this new design.

...ag. It's good to see CCP puts time into redesigning old ship models, but... I'm going to miss the old Crucifier Sad

It was very characteristic, with its double horn, assymetric shape. I hoped they would keep that shape and just tweak it a bit. I'm sorry but I'm not convinced by its new shape. Yeah, looks like a heavy frig and not much Amarr; reminds me of a mix between a Dragoon and a Templar...

I'm all with redesigning old ships, but in this case I'm with the old Cruci.

One of the Devs recently talked about how they were redesigning the Executioner, and that thing pretty much looks like a souped up Exec.

I always liked the stats of the Crucifier/Sentinel, but absolutely HATED the hull design, so I never flew it.

When this is released, I will be picking a few up to go out and die horribly in.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...
