so.. I kept the five million and bailed to do the mission I was on.. My question is.. was this a set up or not? Thought they COULD kill you in duels.. If I'm wrong I'll send the 5 million back. Waiting for input.. thanks in advance.

Yes they can kill your ships in duels... Yes they can even pod you if they're quick enough...

Edit: Out of curiosity, are you a new 18 day old character or an alt?

Edit 2: Minimak's a 2010 char, and if he has PvP skills would have eaten you alive, you wouldn't have stood a chance...But at the same time you would have potentially been recruited then, its all about weighing up what you may or may not have got out of it... If you lose a 2 mill frigate, but gain 10mill in isk from him too, plus you might have learnt something...
Its all about weighing up odds...

Edit 3: Gah! SPELLING!!!

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

The game does not stop duels at hull, and considering he was likely in a PVP fit ship and you were likely in a PVE fit ship it would have been a pretty one sided duel. I guess it boils down to how much your ship was worth, you might have lost a ship but gained a potential corp and PVP training, or not.

His killboard speaks for itself.

You spared him yet another embarrassing KM so keep the isk, he scammed himself.

thanks for the replies..

NEW 18 day character and realizing after reading... watching Youtube... reading... watching Youtube.. just HOW much I don't know yet.

started this game after reading about -Sean Smith/Vile Rat- Not right away obviously.. but kinda stayed on my mind.. so EVEN though I am a HUNTARD in WoW and I heard about the steep learning curve here I was (and still am) determined to try and learn how to do this, well at least to the best of my abilities.

Hey I finally learned that standing in FIRE in a raid... doesn't give you a buff so this should come to me sooner or later.(most likely later)

location was Arnon IX, moon 3 if that helps..
The more I learn the more I realize just how much I don't know.

The single best thing you can do when you join EvE is read. Read a lot of stuff from Google etc.

Smart move denying that clown the duel. As Emiko said, you're 5m up and you still have your ship. Well played.

I entered a duel with a guy named didthathurt (or something like that) he murdered my Tristan but he gave me 1mil to replace it as well as some pvp fits and tips.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

When i did low-sec piracy off of Piekura, i regularly paid the guys the cost of their ship and then some. Of course it depended on the attitude principle. Big smile

If guys talk to you and takes it well, i'm all for helping the new guys. But if you get that tard that goes off like a pork-chop in the midday sun, then i'll take his pod just for the tears.

Welcome to EVE Online, Barbarrossa. I remember when I was a little newbie; I too read what I could get my hands on and watched the YouTube to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing. Even then, I still exploded from time to time; it happens to everyone. When it does happen to you, don't rage at the guy who blasted you; show them respect and ask how they got you/what you did wrong and they'll help you get better and become harder to kill.

Don't know if you've already found it or not, but http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page is a pretty good idea to have bookmarked; the Eve University Wiki is loaded with information. You'll especially want to read http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Overview_Setup since last I remember CCP's default Overview settings suck. Specific alliances may have their own Overview standards, but for a good overall Overview setup and the knowledge of how to adjust it later if/when needed, that page is a must-read.

If you have interests in scanning and wormholes, http://www.tigerears.org/guides/ is another good source of learning. The scanning guides may also have use in regular Low and Null space as well.
