Russian take over of english channels

If it has only 2 million people who can speak it it is not an universal language. It might be designed to be one, but if it is not spoken or at least understood by nearly two billion people, then it is not actually an universal language, is it?

Ah, but the difference is, Spanish has more people that speak the language properly than English does, and you demonstrate it well by using 'an' in front of 'universal', which is pronounced with a solid 'yoo'niversal instead of just 'oo'niversal. So using 'an' in front of 'universal' is incorrect, because the sound that starts the word is a consonant sound, not a vowel one.

What does this have to do with Americans? Puhlease... tons of us (including me) do not speak English as their native language. We are actually making an effort to communicate in a language not our own. because if every single one of us started in our own language, it would be complete and utter chaos out there. Can you imagine what chat would look like if every line was in a different language? I have actually seen this happen in one game, and it was beyond horrible

So yeah... while I have no problem whatsoever with people who genuinely do not understand English and try to find people who speak their own language, it IS tiresome if all all of a sudden speakers of ONE language fill an entire chat (like FNA corp chat) with their language for hours on end, when there ARE language specific channels available. It's both a matter of courtesy and a matter of community. And like it or not, English is still the language most people on the planet learn as their second language, not Russian.

As far as I know, channels are managed on an individual basis by their moderators. Speaking Russian in most chat channels in Eve is perfectly fine. The exception comes when dealing with central moderated channels (such as the help channel), which do have a set language. To deal with someone breaking the language restriction, just talk to one of the ISD managing the channel.

Otherwise, if you think someone is abusing the system in some way, your best recourse is filing a support ticket. A forum thread is not constructive, as you may have noticed.
