In order to improve coverage and efficiency of search and rescue patrols, the Coordination Channel for Consolidated Space Rescue Cooperation has been created. It can be found by connecting to the following channel ID: C3SRC

Those who take part in S&R patrols are encouraged to make use of this channel and/or send feedback on how functionality can be improved. While information in the channel is currently accessible by anyone, only operators can update it. Contact me if you wish to have operator access.

Peace,

-Ché Biko

Addendum: Our current patrols cover Ashokon, Diaderi, Jark, Girani-Fa, Niarja and Zoohen. If anyone knows about other locations that should be covered by our patrols, I would very much like to be informed about them.

Is this merely an FTL channel for those of like-minded intentions to gather, or is this part of a larger organization or initiative?

Nonetheless, it's always pleasant to see capsuleers working towards such goals.

I take the time to pick up lifeboats and search the wreckage of legitimate combatants, typically Federation Navy or Republic Fleet vessels, for survivors, but how would this channel improve the odds of finding anyone? No sarcasm intended. I'm actually curious to see if you have something effective in mind.

Let me take this opportunity to explain one aspect of the function of this channel. Deathcans have a structural lifespan of apprx <2 hours. Those who frequently conduct rescue patrols can post the time stamps and areas recently patrolled on the channel where other rescue pilots can consult and plan their patrols accordingly. Ultimately the goal is to provide information so that each of the areas that regularly see deathcans will be patrolled with 2 hour time periods. The more pilots patrolling, the easier this is to accomplish. For example, the channel would allow me to see if Che Biko had patrolled Niarja within the last two hours. If he had, I could concentrate may patrols elsewhere. However, if the two hour period had almost expired, then I could coordinate with other pilots on the channel to make sure Niarja was patrolled again. Rinse and repeat for all the other patrol areas. The goal is to save more lives and to make our efforts more efficient. Also, emergency assistance calls could be made on the channel. If a rescue pilot has reached passenger capacity, he can call for assistance from another rescue pilot.

As for those who are patrolling combat areas, similar principles apply. Wrecks that may contain survivors also have similar time constraints, <2 hours. Pilot coordination in combat zones where rescue patrols are needed would also serve to make the effort more efficient.

Captain Biko, I hope I got the idea as you intended it. Please correct and/or augment further.

I see. Well, if you want them, I can drop the locations of non-recognized combatant remnants, which, as a rule, don't get the same considerations as recognized militaries.

Miss Oniseki: I hope Momaki's explanation, which does indeed describe the current main functions of the channel accurately, aswers your question.

Miss Ishikari: Generally speaking, any location where people are regularly left stranded in space is an area of interest to the ones using this channel.

Our current patrols cover Ashokon, Diaderi, Jark, Girani-Fa, Niarja and Zoohen. If anyone knows about other locations that should be covered by our patrols, I would very much like to be informed about them.

This is a great idea. While I'm not part of the Disciples of Ston, I could assist their workings in a few ways. Due to my constant travels, I tend to pass through some of these patrolsystems fairly often, so can broadcast if deathcans are spotted. On the other hand, I can also assist in retrieving people from deathcans that lie quite a distance beyond the normal patrol-area's of the Disciples as I tend to travel far & distant in the cluster.

An excellent idea Mr. Biko, thank you for putting forth the effort for a concentrated stream of information.

On behalf of 7SSAR I will gladly join and support this initiative and I will instruct my employees to do the same.

Fear not this night. You will not go astray. Though shadows fall still the stars find their way.

Dear fellow rescue pilots,

The response is encouraging and I believe we can gain ground in our efforts together through this kind of coordination.

That said, please note carefully that the channel MOTD clearly states:
Quote:
Note: This channel is not secure. Keep that in mind when you share information.

Please be prudent! When on the channel, note who else is monitoring. Fellow rescuers will benefit from knowing what zones have been patrolled and when. The channel is also a quick reference to see what other rescue pilots specifically are in pod. Not all pilots who monitor the channel are necessarily rescue pilots. If reporting a deathcan that you yourself have not already rescued or if calling for specific assistance, contact reputable pilots directly via private channel.
