Ban the posting of all in-game communications as a means to deter griefing

I was various times muted and warned after I repeatedly posted intel about ganks and gate camping in some systems in local.

Knowing that, I would assume that everyone that communicates and warns other players in public channels about griefing and scams, are also against the rules.

Id like to have this clarified.

People don't post the griefing they have committed online. they post the torrent of insults and tears (griefing) that they receive from an emotional-invested-lunatic-nerd after their pixels have been removed via legitimate methods within the game.

If anything people publically posting this kind of stuff should help discourage all the evil care-bears who find it acceptable to grieve people just for defeating them in a computer game. The embarrassment and shame will help them toughen-up and shut-the-f-up.

This rule would also require a spy to get permission from the infiltrated corporation in order to do their job. "Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give me permission to pass along information to the corporation that hired me to spy on you? Thanks in advance!"

This is a terrible idea. It is completely unworkable, would have collateral damage to all kinds of legitimate kinds of communication, it would be unenforceable (because CCP isn't allowed to read private forums).

I think the OP has made the oft-made mistake of believing that only people that actually engage in ganking/scamming/pvp/stealing support such activity or enjoy reading about it. This is pretty much wrong as wrong can be.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

This idea is dumb, repressive, and ultimately impossible to enforce. If you feel "griefed" for reading back some communications you had earlier, maybe work on your communication skills instead.

I don't know where you are from, but people like you are why America is on the decline.

Hey - you see that small percentage of @ssholes using something legitimate for bad things - Well, fu@k the 99% of the population using it responsibly, lets just ban the whole thing all together.

YAY - I solved thousands of years of human habits and reality with my oppression, and no one will ever find a workaround because my righteousness makes me smarter than anyone ever alive. I can justify screwing thousands of people because I save the fragile emotional state of a nub with no balls that gets his feelings hurt by an insignificant internet troll. YAY PROGRESS!

- Please leave, go home and remove yourself from humanity, I have enough @ssholes in my government trying to decide what I can do.

The main motivation for most of these griefers is to illicit a reaction from the player being griefed and post it online for others to see. They want to show-off on their websites or blogs.

Hey, I resemble that remark!Big smile

Personally I love to gank, scam, steal, wardec, AWOX and reverse AWOX with my EVE time. Yes, I also get a kick out of posting carebear tears on my blog. However, I have never participated in any form of griefing. I am usually polite and courteous in my communications with my victims. At worst I am blunt and businesslike, but I never use profanity or racial or homophobic slurs. The carebears that I terrorize often do.

I think griefing is actually pretty rare in EVE, and griefers usually get banned pretty quickly. The trouble with people like the OP is that they mistake beating someone at competetive gameplay with griefing, especially when unconventional tactics are used.

The false premise your entire post is based on is that griefing is a problem in the first place.

@ the OP: Ham-handed solutions to imaginary problems win you elections in real life. They don't tend to go over so well with EVE players. I suggest running for city council wherever you live, though. I'm sure you will find many opportunities to waste taxpayer money.

I think we should go, "the other" way.

Free speech is a great thing.

There are already too many rules and restrictions in this game.

James315 posted a GM response to his website. They asked him to remove it and threatened to ban him if he didn't.
Thus any claim that CCP cannot act against content on a 3rd party website, due to inability to directly link the poster with the in-game user, is simply false. If they were willing to "make that leap" for their own GM, they should make that leap for their own paying customers too.
Posting of GM and Dev communications is explicitly forbidden, as is discussion of moderation, everything else is fair game. As for your definition of griefing, it doesn't have any relevance here, CCP define it, you don't.
