I refer you to Chribba's earlier post. Also, almost certain is not certain. I propose the thread be renamed "The following statement is almost guaranteed to be true". Then my gripe will have been addressed.

If you take the statistical definition of "almost certain", you are right.

No, if I used that definition I would be wrong. Because although it is very unlikely, it is still possible that this thread will not be locked. An error in the SQL server, an accidental reset, a code fault resulting in this thread not automatically locking, an accidental delete by an ISD...

When this thread gets locked, it won't prove this wrong either, because it will still have been possible.
