I've pulled the storage centre out and feed everything through the space port. I've also added a new basic processor. That should produce more stuff with luck.

That looks like you intentionally laid things out to be as inefficient as possible. Did you ever bother to consult any of the PI guides, tutorials and videos that were referenced?

Links wasting PG and CPU, one extractor looks like it'll need cycling hourly, the other weekly. Extractor heads scattered. Far too few extractor heads

Did you ever consult any of the PI guides, tutorials and videos that were referenced?

yes I know the extractors are mucked up but I've turned them off so I run through my existing stockpile of materials. Also I'm pushing the CPU and PG limits so I can't add any more extractors. I'll have upgrades to 3 by tomorrow so I can add more later on.

Your new layout looks better and more efficient than before.

A couple basic rules:

  • Market research. (This has been mentioned already.)
  • Once you have decided what to make (POS fuels are a good choice) take a look at the resource distribution on a potential colony planet and place your spaceport so that you can easily reach the resources that you want. This reduces the PG use of your links.
  • Route all materials to and from the spaceport. If you don't, you will lose resources since the factories can only hold so much at a time. I think you have that one covered.
  • Keep your factories as close to your spaceport as possible to reduce the PG need for links.
  • Train Command Center Upgrades to 4. This will enable you to do pretty much whatever you want on any single planet.
