There is no official lore reason for the change because the change was not made for lore reasons.

Right. The lore reason is that it's always been like that. the term for that is "retcon".

There is a difference between "fiction", and "theoretically possible but we do not have the technology/power to achieve yet".

Fairies, vampires, werewolves, pixies and deities are better examples of fiction...

Yeah, that's kind of the point I was trying to make.
Something being theoretically possible doesn't make it not fiction.
A scandalous rendezvous between CCP Soundwave and Kate Upton is, while theoretically possible, still fiction until it happens. I'm reasonably sure it hasn't.

The Orca got screwed for 1/3 of it's warp speed. Down from 3.0au/sec to 2.0au/sec. This is not good for gameplay CCP, but then again you don't give a phuckhole about Orca pilots so screw them...I see.....Roll

Actually, larger ships actually moving more like larger ships should in relation to other ships is very good for game play.

Although I have to admit, it would be most interesting to see how things played out if CCP had gone the other way.

That being large ships remaining very slow at normal speeds, but quite a bit faster in warp than smaller craft. Smile

personaly i will have balanced a other way by making smaller ships just faster.
somehow game company's only think in Negative Terms.
they can have made anything below cruisers warp faster, without touching larger ships.

Not really true. I think there was even problems with fast warping ships and grid loading times. So right now the fastest warping ships are warping about as fast as the eve code base allows.

Well fun is also good.

Big lumbering ships are slow, shocker. I kinda like this change, even though I enjoy flying BS I enjoy the broader range of possible warp speeds. Maybe a slight buff of the rigs affecting them is in order? Gameplay-wise I think it's a sound decision.

Tell me how sound you think it was after jumping 52 jumps total on a market run. Nah, it phucked gameplay for Orca hauler traders really badly.

To you maybe. You must not be Icelandic. They go out of their way there to respect the homes of the Huldrfolk when they do construction. There are some similar traditions in Hawaii with the Menehune.

Physics in the EVE universe is based on rubber ducks in a bathtub.

This fact can be demonstrated in game by looking at what happens when two ships collide and also by the way your ship bobs up and down when sitting near a large object like a planet.

We know very little about ducks but two facts are clear:

a) They weight the same as a witch and hence can float.

b) Big ducks warp slower than small ducks.

Of course, now you can put three Hyperspacial rigs onto it now, giving you a 3.91 AU warp speed that results in faster acceleration than before and meaningfully faster travel, and then add your 50% implants bonus onto it bringing you up above 5 AU, making your Orca warp more like a tech 1 frigate.
But CCP hate making you make meaningful choices & trade offs like speed or tank and want to make everything easy for Orca pilots at the same time.

Maybe not to you, but my sense of humour isn't set to "entertain stupid dingleberries"

So you think a supertanker or a Panamax container ship should have just the same acceleration as a small dinghy with a 50hp engine, because after all the big ship can fit "more efficient, bigger engines". I think you need some physics classes. Esp those that have to do with Newton's laws, momentum, and heck even relativity.

And why is the warp Speed of a POD sooooo slow (3 AU/s)?
Its the smallest in game with nearly NO mass, and so should warp about 50 AU/s or more... Twisted

But coming to the topic question...
CCP reduced the warp speed because ist always funny to nerf their players.
Warping slower means to arrive later, so players spend a lot more time in game than before now.
And the Yule Lads enjoy when the players now fall asleep in front of their screen because of the slow warp speed.
So again players spend even more time in game now while sleeping during warp.

Additional its healthy to take a nap now between two mission fights while the ship slow boats to the next.
So CCP cares for the health of their customers, giving them time for a nap. So takes away the stress players
earned with these much tooo fast awful warp speeds in the past (about 3 AU/s for BS - much too fast for the standard human).

Well, the more powerfull the engines are the faster you go. It would be logical that a battleship warps at the same speed as any other ship, cause they may be bigger and heavier, so are the engines. But i don't care about hard science. Really.

This is EvE, not Kerbal Space program ...
