Whether or not you like EVE has no bearing on whether or not anyone else does.

Compare watching a stream of any first person shooter with a stream of an EVE fleet battle having never played either before. One will kick up your adrenaline and the other will be, "WTF? People actually play this?".

That's not subjective opinion. It's objective fact.

That changes, of course, once you know the game and understand what the little red and blue squares are doing. But as I said, not a good way to try and interest someone in the game.

Yes, but you'll say the same if you're actually in the fleet battle yourself. Cherrypicking does you no favours.

Also, watching someone else play an FPS is phenomenally boring, as nothing is really happening except point and click. (Objective fact, not subjective opinion btw).

If you are streaming to attract new players, pick a smaller encounter and zoom in.

This is what I wrote. So I am not saying Intel streams are not useful, they just don't build a community. They are just tools, not entertainment in my opinion.

that twitch logo in the twitch control ui of the neocom is really immersion breaking it should be in the settings window along with the audio and video settings for the game so you can set it up then click a button to begin streaming in the game. The intel possibilities are interesting, though scouts will now play the game via remote control with their fc barking orders like pan left, warp to x show me dscan etc, might as well be a camera drone.

I don't mind streaming but I am concerned that ccp is damaging immersion. Plus does anyone know if the aforementioned fc would have to watch an advert every now and again, or is that only for paid accounts. I honestly don't know how twitch works, but it does make me ask if ccp are getting any money from their partnership with twitch.tv I am not accusing ccp of anything untoward I just don't know how it works and am musing aloud so to speak.

Even if they were, I certainly don't see a problem with that.

The twitch logo is only on your Neocom if you drag it there from the root menu.

Do you honestly think that 30,000 years in the future we'd have twitch, or is that going to be written in to the lore now?

Do you honestly think that 30,000 years in the future our space ship controls will consist of a series of drop down menu's and an over view list?

It seems that CCP has been on this whole "Get our product in front of the masses," fixation lately...

It's not a bad thing, just another way to advertise...

But, I just don't like actual gameplay and back end code fixes being pushed out of the way to make streaming slightly easier... I hope CCP isn't loosing "focus" again and becoming tunnelvisioned. As patches (expansions according to CCP) and new features being focused on trying to get as much attention as possible!

If CCP REALLY wants attention, open Jove space for starters!

Depends on whether CCP can get from the spaceship game market to the spaceship market some time in the next 30,000 years.

Why what would this achieve?

Well, it;'s only been an event that old players have been waiting for since..... well, launch, really. They had this great Jovian thing going on early on, and then suddenly dropped it. Some of us have been waiting to see wtf will happen for a very long time, but CCP seems to have forgotten they ever did that.

Personally I'd rather see them bring back jukebox, which was a feature that far more people will have a use for that broadcasting yet more garbage on twitch.

You have a problem with an eleet Thrasher miner pounding away at Veldspar in 1.0 space on a live video stream? But the conversation... the CONVERSATION! We can hear all about the girl he's hot for in school and boasting about his superior chick skills with his fellow miners (without admitting he's never had a date in his short life)...

That just seems like me the height of social networking to me. Really. No, really. Maybe if we're lucky we can even see him pop a zit on camera!!

Why what would this achieve?

lets start off with the I don't know /exactly/ how many new playable systems that would be added into the game. Oh wait, they're not NEW, they've been there for over a decade! Stargates, Asteroid Belts, Stars, Planets, Moons, etc etc!

Most of the bittervets, (myself included) have been waiting to gain access to that area for a long ass time!

Give a random DEV crayons and the New Eden map. Drop a hit of acid and tell him to play connect the dots.

Get another DEV, give him a bottle of Rum and tell him to write a few lines of code, drop about 50 Stargates, and voila!

Even if there isn't any real gameplay added to it. Make it HighSec, no NPC's. Just more space for players to go to and spread out!

I'm looking forward to being able to dump an alt in an enemy staging system, click a button, and give all my coallition FCs a live 23/7 feed of enemy formups.

Which in my opinion adds to the game, a logical improvement in intel gathering, I would expect major block FC's to have access to multiple such feeds on closed channels.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

Not as boring as watching a swirl of '90s level RTS graphics.

And you seem to be confusing your games. MMOs are point and click, not FPSs.

Still I find it interesting that you keep quoting everything I write except the "for someone that has never played the game" part. I think you've been attending Tippia's advanced forum posting workshops, haven't you?

Lol

Given that this thing is built into the game it must have amazing location-concealment options. Has the age of black-boxes-everywhere ended?

FPSes in general have only one gameplay mechanic, and that is point and click.
