Tried this out last night, everything worked fine from a technical standpoint, but the frame rate/stream quality was a bit of a disappointment from what I hoped for. Frame rate dropped significantly every time I rotated the camera. I haven't played with the third party streaming tools so I dont really have any means of comparison though. I'll post system specs but I dont really think that was an issue.

i7 920 @ 4.0GHz
2x GTX 460 in SLI
12GB 1600MHz memory
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
1 client at 1920x1200 in fixed window mode, second screen showing desktop
Internet is 100Mb/100Mb so I can't imagine that's a bottleneck on my end

We've added a framerate selection box so you can now tailor your stream even more.

tried testing this thing out multiple times - it can only stream for a couple of seconds before failing.

I'm trying different resolutions (all weird, cant do 1920x1080) but it just seems to log me out. I've tried making a new user account that correlates to the character being used but the username is already taken so no joy there

I was looking forward to this, even if its just for a giggle

System Specs
8GB DDR3 2100Mhz
i5 3570
nvidia GTX 560Ti
Windows 7 64

Screens 2x 23.5" Viewsonic 2365-LED 1920x1080

I hope this is fixable anyways, I know twitch can be a bit unstable in some parts of the UK though

If you were changing resolution as you were stream you would have been logged out automatically. And I can feel your pain at having your twitch.tv user name taken, we've all been there.

The resolution constraints come from twitch.tv, so sadly there isn't much we can do about that.

So you're saying that TwitchTV constraints the resolution for CCP/EVE but not third party softwares? That's weird.

We are not looking to compete with out of client broadcasting tools, but rather give people a taste. We want to see what kind of interest there is in the feature and then build on that.

We would like to allow players to stream a resolution independently of their clients resolution, but as a first implementation this was scoped out.

You can expect more details in a Dev Blog which should be out soon.

On a second thought it could be a really useful tool when you need some fast broadcasting for your corp and/or gang, specialy when you want to teach something hard to understand without visuals.

But the resolution thing should really be sorted out. The problem is... our UI settings rely on our resolution. When the resolution changes our windows positions/organization goes down the toilet. Reorganizing everything for broadcast, then reverting it back afterwards isn't something people will want to do. And today most gamers are using 1080p, but of course that shouldn't be the only res taken care of.

And again... weird TwitchTV restricting 1080p resolution setting for CCP/EVE when we can set out a third party one (including freeware) the said resolution with no problem.

My only guess is that Eve's intergrated Twitch is a direct feed, no processing/storage/cache in the local client as that would change the possible spec requirements of eve (Its a direct pipeline feed from your PC to Twitch, avoiding Eve's servers entirely.

The 3rd party programs do a good deal of initial processing on your pc before sending it over to twitch (such as recompression, changing audio codec's, etc).

That is just a guess though. The lack of high definition support is an oddity, but one I believe could be relatively easily rectified on Twitch's side, though I suspect the pipeline streaming requirement would go up (more upload bandwidth needed by the person).

I would think (if the above applies and is true), that CCP would put in a "high definition post processing option", that would permit people to stream in high definition, but puts a disclaimer to accept the extra processing requirement.

Again, that is pretty much me talking out my rump and guessing at why that issue is an issue.

Yaay!!!!

Ok a few notes regarding this (was goofing around with it for a few minutes). Copied from the dev blog post.

1) the 1920 by 1080 is an issue. I maxed it out at 1600, it window mode the game (did not mess with the PC resolution, which is good).

2) it does not stream whats in the background of your stream (it windowed the view, but I had a 2nd instance of eve running in the background, it did not bleed through.

3) The quality is a little unexpected, but its probably just my pipe, as I don't have a 100 upload (I believe this connection is only a 5 up), oddly enough it works ok.

4) The lag time from ingame doing, to what is shown, is roughly 5 to 7 seconds. There is no noticeable ingame lag.

For showing your friends, or just doing some quick stream for the heck of it (ingame blob fight and you decided to just fly in and blow people up is good).

Text is legible. Quality is ok. There was no noticeable ingame lag. Resolution can be an issue (my only real gripe).

Unless you want people reading your messages ingame, you'll have to minimize the menu. Then again if you are about to do a intel sensitive operation, why the hell are you live streaming instead of recording?

Please change the following.

1) When you login to twitch from the ingame option, please instantly minimize the twitch login screen, as it shows your twitch username (realistically not an issue, but it also shows the length of your password).

2) When minimized in the rightside menu, could you permit a rightclick of it, and a small dropdown menu saying "Disconnect?". It would help protect possible attempts of hacking from people's possible password leaks (its Minor, but helpful).

3) Really try to get 1920 by 1080 working in twitch, it is Uncomfortable running the game at a lower resolution on the monitors some of us run.

If you are concerned about a few things (such as where you are/where your going, I would suggest ccp initiate some method of blacking out parts of text from twitch (that would probably take more resources than necessary)). This is meant to be a way to stream cool interesting things, not a method for becoming a professional broadcaster. With that in mind.

1) Minimize the twitch login screen once logged in
2) Rightclick/Disconnect from twitch without bringing up the login menu
3) Attempt to get 1920 by 1080 working.

Other than that, it works (least for me).

In addition, why does twitch.tv switch over to Justin.tv whenever I try to stream (I put in the username, and it swaps over to justin.tv) and streams there.

Yaay!!!!

I fail to log in and start streaming - when my password has "%" in it.
Just tried on test server.
I don't have a problem logging in / streaming when password does not contain "%".
Other non-alphanumeric characters may be affected.

I need help! What would I use streaming for? Convince me to become a user! D:

Enjoy it its not mandatory.

Tried it in release. Got disappointed, because it does not support full-hd.
Maybe you can change it so, that I can play in full-hd and upload in half-hd at the same time?
This is how fraps does it (fraps does not stream but it can record in half-of-screen-resolution).

1920x1200 is better, but there's still room left on my screen(s)

any chance to make the stream resolution slave to the client resolution (opposite of how it is right now)

how would I go about adding my microphone to the twitch stream? sometimes I do instructional things for other players, other times I like to add music. can i add music to the stream?

Twitch will stream all your computer sounds so as long as your computer is picking up your mic input you should be able to use it. Likewise with any music playing in the background.

I'm impressed by how *easy* this is, to get running.
So, of course, we want more ;-)

1. Right next to the "pin this window" button in window title bars, I'd like a "don't broadcast this window" button.
-Black it out. Extra credit for providing a choice to overlay a corp/alliance logo.

2. Option to not capture / broadcast sound.
-Extra credit for providing a choice to inject a sound file, replacing captured audio.
