I'm too stupid for windows 8

I've now spent good parts of a weekend trying to be a cool cat and upgrade to Win 8 but I have to admit defeat :(

I can't find my desktop and I can't find my network shares so I can't even grab my eve install.

Took me five hours to find my control panel.

Since this is the pinnacle of easy to use UI I'm forced to accept that I'm a hopelessly outdated coprolite and way to old to understand.

I'll crawl back under my rock and downgrade to 7, which I can at least understand.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Don't feel bad about going back to Windows 7. Aside from some nice things in it, there really isn't anything about Windows 8 that makes it a no brainer to swap.

Personally, I am looking to keep one Windoze computer (for gaming) and move to Linux on the rest of my boxes.

I kill kittens, and puppies and bunnies. I maim toddlers and teens and then more.

This is what happens when they have to design a system for those who cannot understand or grasp how computers actually work (lack of education ?).

Things turn out counter-intuitive for those who do understand. I'm afraid it's going to be like this from here on out considering how entrenched MS and Apple both are.

Honestly, most of the time I feel like reverting back to XP. That was the least troublesome PC OS of all time.

It's a godsend for the windows 8 challenged like me.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Stardocks Start8 is great for Windows 8 sufferers.

And I blame Apples iPhone and the majority of idiot computer users for what happened to Windows 8.

Also I despise Windows XP now, it was good for its time but now with Windows 7 available its nothing but a huge headache.

I used XP, skipped Vista, am now on 7 and am skipping 8.

I'll have to see what 9 (or whatever it will be called) will bring.

I'll stick with windows 7 until it dies , or If I can manage to play all my favourite games on Ubuntu in the future with Open GL I will ditch it Big smile, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

windows 8 sucks the left one big time ...I would just stick to 7 ....the only reason I bought is because its my job to support it . even M$ have realised its shite ...I can see windows 9 being pushed out rather quickly just to bury windows 8

win8 is like what windows ME was like ...and anyone who`s been around a bit doing support will know what I`m talking about.

Dont wory OP, personaly got brand new computer based on windows 7 , winows 8 no thanks... Microsoft wont steal my vauable time, i know that after x hours i can learn about it (basic functions) but i wont waste even single second on it just to learn how this crap works.

Ps. I dont know what coming next after windows 8 if similar crap probably i move to linux fully supported and linked to steam, so far windows 7 works good, here no needs to replace it with windows 8.

If it bleed we can kill it.

I've been manufacturing obscenities inspired by Windows 8 for close to a year now.. maybe slightly longer. You are not too stupid for Windows 8. As Bischopt said, it's too stupid for you.

The UI design is horrible for a desktop system, so don't feel bad that you can't find things. They also changed how the network handles shares (we had to hack the registry in order to access our NetAPP servers at work do to Win8 changes) so don't feel bad about that either.

I plan on staying with Windows 7 until the next major change in Windows. Microsoft tends to operate on a trend. Make something new, which is crap. Make changes to that crap which is slightly more stable but still crap. Make a new version build on the ideas they had but is actually useful. Repeat. That means that Win 8.1 is likely crap part two. My hope is they will get their head out of their ass around "Windows 9".

How the hell did the iPhone or "idiot computer users" ruin Windows 8? I'm pretty sure Microsoft was responsible for that one.

IIRC, press "windows_key-M" to minimize to the desktop. Or try Ctrl-Esc.

My problem was when I had to fix someone's Windows 8 system was figuring out how to login. Microsoft really needs new management that realizes that Windows is finally mature enough that no one needs to upgrade anymore.

I like the iPhone, its better then that android garbage.

I just see Windows 8 as Microsoft's failure to try to be more Apple like.
