I've heard all these stories of people using manipulation to do this plex for good. It's admirable, but mistaken.
If you really wanna help...be selfless and dig in your pocket and give real money to the united way or any other international charity.
CCP is profiting from this and it is wrong. Why give a plex when you can give money to a registered charity? I donate time and money to charities each year and wouldn't help people so a business could profit. Shame.
These are my personal thoughts and I don't care whether you troll.

So what they got a tax break and made a little bit of cash off some new plexes bought they did infact donate a large amount to help others. And what about the others who cant donate real money but can go shoot sleepers for a couple hours and donate plex. Donations are being made and thats the important thing.

Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth.

Profiting from disasters is wrong. Do they even pay taxes in Iceland?

If you want to complain about a company, go complain about WalMart or something.

The net outcome of CCP's efforts was positive and beneficial to humans in need.

The PLEX for GOOD initiative was repeatedly asked for my players. CCP acted on the desires of their players. Also there's an explaination around somewhere about the paperwork CCP had to go through to organise this fund raiser. It all checks out.

The more hands charitable donations go through may require ''administrative fees''. Donate directly to registered charities people. Red cross and United way are good places to start.

You realize they have as many "administrative fees" as anyone else and as stated not everyone is able to donate actual cash why are you bitching about CCP giving people a chance to help out in other ways?

oh wait because you are a pretentious troll who has to belittle people attempting to do good...

I am no troll. I'm stating fact. Quite honestly if we all played video games to save the world.....who would do the work?

You do understand that every charity takes in profit.. Right?

I mean you are in Marmite so I do get the lack of thought that went into your post.

Holey, stop being such an insufferable troll.

Who the hell cares how the money gets to charity, as long as it gets there. I'm sure there are many people playing Eve who are able to donate much more in ISK than they are in real world money.... and also more people who are willing to donate 'space pixels' than their own $$$.

Hell, i wish it was possible for CCP to 'administrate' the money directly to where its needed. Rather than passing it to a charity.
At least then our donations wouldn't be used to pay the exorbitant wages that people in those charity's earn.

Direct philanthropic involvement outside your own local community or any community you have strong ties to is often difficult.

This is an effort that gets a large number of people who otherwise would not contribute to do so with a minimal amount of overhead. It generates content, builds community internally, and provides nonzero real assistance to those in need.

Arguing instead that people who may lack charitable intentions should give to a number of highly ineffective and corporatized charities is not only missing the point but detracting from the valuable work of those shaking down carebears for charity. More Marmite from OP please.

What is with people trying to get me to give up my hard earned money to those in "need".

It's my money and I need it pretty much always.
