Daytrip Fit suggestions?

Right now I'm dipping into 1-3s at whim with a HAM Drake (I bring a Depot so stuff like salvagers get refit eventually) but there are two things that really **** me off about this fit: Range, and Ammo. The range is ****, especially against mass neuts who run away from you, and I'm completely out of ammo after around 5-6 sites in C1s, or ~3 in C3s...k, so I should probably just buy way more ammo, but my point still stands about the range.

Does anybody have suggestions for the future? I'm mostly missiles, but I've been thinking of turrets for a bit and I have maxed drones (...like drones are gunna help against sleepers...). I'm just daytripping for the sake of building experience while some friends are trying to figure out how and when to set up a POS in a hole. A Tengu is an option, but I can't afford the replacement cost yet so I'm shying away from that for now.

Well, the reason why I don't like HMLs is because I can only get 260 DPS out of them (no T2), whereas I can get ~350 DPS out of Javelin HAMs. I'd probably have to stop doing C3s to accommodate that while I train up...

I dunno, I've got skill points all over the map so I could probably run a decent drone fit with a different race. I'm just having a hard time finding fits that aren't T3, Drakes or Nocti.

If youve got drone skills Ishtar with sentries works.

Is a Gila a suitable alternative, or is the Ishtar flat out better? And would an Ishtar be Armor or Shield tanked?

for c1s, warp in to the site at 100kms bookmark and object near the sleepers then warp to it at 0
for c2s, don't run them, the c2 sites are designed to be terrible no matter what you do
For c3s, just spend all your time in site burning to the final wave and HAMs will be able to hit everything.

Gila works really well. I use one atm when i get bored of my tengu. Ishtar would be sheild tanked. Pith Large would get you enough enough tank with T2 resist mods.

The ishtar is better but the gila works well enough, it has a worse time applying damage but easier time tanking as the bonuses to tracking on the ishtar are very helpful as you cant fit any Omnidirectionals on the gila due to the tank needed for a c3. In c1/c2 it would be fine though.

Doing ~350 DPS to targets that orbit at 50km+ with missiles that reach 36km is 0 DPS. Doing ~260 DPS almost regardless of where they are on the field is always better than boating around for 10 extra minutes in a site.

With decent tank and fit, you can pretty much just sit still in a C2-C3 and shoot everything that spawns in a passive HML drake.
