Ok, that looked like a troll to me, yep I am pretty new - so how do you know that someone who has a six year old character, has not been playing for six years?

The OP being in a noob corp shouldn't mean anything should it? I was under the impression that you can stay in any npc corp as long as you like. Forum skill obviously needs improving.

A lot of people play eve, quit, and come back, it's almost the standard. If you see a 6 year old char, it probably means they only played for a couple months 6 years ago.

No real way to be sure without seeing how many SP they have, but in general the questions they ask give things away.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Thanks for that explanation, much appreciated. I get that this can happen, though I was wondering how J'Poll knew 100% that this was the case and it was a genuine question, I thought there must have been a particular clue there that I wasn't getting that J'Poll can see, to have been so sure.

It was the question that I thought gave away the troll - not wishing to offend the OP, but 6 years, even if only played a little in that time, says to me that you would know there is no first person in this game Smile.

There should still be the option of having a first person view.

Yes, we all know that it's "not that kind of game" and that third person is how it's meant to be played. However, maybe some people (myself included) like to imagine actually being in the ship and flying though space while sitting at our desks like it's a cockpit.

If they had a button near the "reset camera" and "autopilot" buttons which enabled first person/cockpit view that would be pretty bad ass. And by pressing it again you go back to the third person view.... easy.

And before you say it - yes, I know... according to the lore you are in a goo filled pod deep in the bowels of your ship controlling it with your mind and the view that you see is from camera drones. If you can do that with your mind, why not be able to use it to see out the front of the ship in first person?

I'm sure with all the amazing and innovative things that CCP is capable of doing regarding this game, adding this option wouldn't be such a overwhelming task... Maybe it will attract other players as well.

They know some people want a cockpit view, and it's coming. That's what EVE Valkyrie is for.

EVE Online is a fleet combat game. It's meant to give a fleet perspective, even when operating solo. You cannot have a fleet perspective from within the cockpit. They are totally different types of game with a completely different "feel." One game cannot do both.

You want to be a fleet pilot in the EVE universe? Play EVE Online.

You want to be a ground-pounder in the EVE universe? Play Dust 514.

You want to be a fighter pilot in the EVE universe? Play EVE Valkyrie when it arrives.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...

I treat all threads as genuine questions, even the obvious troll ones.

Why?

Because, it can happen that a genuine new players is looking on the forum with the same / similar question and find his answer in the thread.

i've always thought EVE would be a lot more fun with a cockpit/bridge view. You'd still have the overview so you could 'see' everything around you but your actual vision would be limited to whats infront of your view window. I't be great to see our ships from a crew members perspective. Fluff wise this would be fairly contradictory as (I think) we're restricted to our pods while piloting .. but yeah.

That makes sense, and is a good thing - I know I have learned a lot from reading through the answers to other peoples questions in the forums. Good stuff.

I was just curious as to how you called my troll comment a fail so definitely then, if you are not sure whether it is a troll or not and just choose to answer the question?
