PLEX for good is a massive CCP induced ISK sink...

...that was designed to get as many of those Amazon PLEX off the market as possible. I often like to entertain conspiracy theories and find hidden meaning in things so bear with me on this.

Amazon pulls a boo boo and dumps quite a substantial amount of PLEX onto the market after its little misstep in the Black Friday sale. Well CCP doesn't like to directly interfere in the workings of the universe much but I know they've been thinking of a way to get those PLEX off the market. Now the disaster was terrible and I have donated to it through other sources but not this one. Why? For every PLEX you contract to the CCP character that's 20$ CCP made that is never turned into game time meaning 20$ of straight profit for them. I'm not going to go into how much they donate as at the end of the day they can say they donated whatever number they want.

This event is also a massive ISK sink considering the 2 trillion ISK drive that ended recently let alone all the other players who have donated them. I know my current Corp had an alliance wide drive and my corp I was in previously donated a few. CCP basically wins from this because they get some of the ISK inflation down, they recoup losses from the amazon blunder and all the players think its completely out of altruism on their part.

Yes its tinfoil to the max but if you think about it, the timing is pretty perfect and the means of funding is convenient as well.

Although your theory does make some sense. It's very convenient, but it makes sense.

Unless CCP are the ones selling plex it isn't an isk sink.

Nowhere has it been said that isk inflation is uncontrolled or even a problem currently.


Your theory is based on a flawed understanding of how transactions work coupled to a non existent problem.

I don't know. I still haven't got around to contribute because I am a horrible person and do not care for other human beings in game and out.

Also, I own stocks in companies that trash 3rd world nations and start conflicts.

Not an ISK sink in the traditional sense so maybe I used to wrong term. Its a way to get PLEX out of the market and will have an impact on the economy. People buy PLEX to donate raising the demand even if temporarily which will cause a change in prices.

Except the amount purchased off of Amazon had basically no impact on the market whatsoever and this drive donated far more PLEX than were brought into the market by that mistake.

Fact.

CCP got the plans downloaded off the innerwebs for George Bush's Katrina weather machine and built one that caused the typhoon that hit the Philippines.

CCP did not initiate this one.

The forums and the players were in an uproar until they agreed to do a PFG for the Philippines.

So…

Not an ISK sink.
No real reason for CCP to empty out the PLEX market.
No real need to adjust the economy (and it's far too small to have any real impact anyway).
Not instigated by CCP.

In other news, aluminium mining companies are celebrating a surprise upsurge in demand…

and that's assuming every plex was contracted individually.

The only player I know that could possibly turn a charity drive into a conspiracy theory. Please biomass and find a new MMO. You suck at being a person.

So dude... CCP planned the Philippines to get destroyed by a super typhoon just so they can get rid of the PLEX Amazon messed up on? Kind of scary that a gaming company in Iceland can control the weather on the other side of the world. I bet they could be like Dr. Evil from Austin Powers and get a million dollars too!
