ME level on Cap Ship BPO's

From what I have seen, most Cap ship blueprints are being sold at ME 2. Saw one for ME 5, but very rare.
I know that my alt is doing some ME on one, and clearly it takes weeks to get even ME1.

Is the reason that people do not usually take it past ME 2 is because the most efficient use of that slot is to start researching another cap ship BPO? I know for something like an Archon BPO there is no difference in waste between ME3 and ME8, and I think zero waste is like ME 9 or 10.

You are correct. With capital ships, sometimes an additional ME level does not change the quantity of Capital Parts required. I wrote a post about this comparing a Maelstrom (Subcapital) to a Obelisk (Capital).

Another reason to research Cap BPOs to a perfect ME level would be if you plan on recycling the ships built from a perfect ME BPO. Otherwise, what Blake said.
