most of the sounds in EVE are from when the game was made. in 1997 and released in 2003.

of course there is free speech.
but adding videos, to your CG is one thing, that they made it official that you can do so is another thing and the third thing is, whoever added this feature, is the one to blame for not having audio control as they didn't tell us about it and they should have put it in themselves. Sounds to me like a not fully thought through feature.

Just because you can't hear mission music only, doesn't make the audio system from the stone age, that is strictly a matter of taste on your behalf and something you want for your convenience, and you are actually the first person to mention this.
If you read all the previous posts in this thread, you would know that there is coming more customization possibilities in the near future, and since you knew that and had read the thread of course you are looking forward to that and mentioned how you would like to shape it, politely, intead of just basically saying "I WANT I WANT".

The ESC menu, I'm not talking about the audio on / off switch.
I'm talking about your ability to turn down the music slider on most of your clients, so only one plays music, but of course, it was mentioned earlier that this part was going to be taken care of.

The whole, moving of the mic' from the camera to the ship and so on, was also mentioned before and talked about.
we had a very nice thread and discussion going about how things could be done actually, and I'm trying to pick up from this thread how players would prefer their sound and try to make a system that works for everybody. which is utopia, because it doesn't exist.

Well... I was talking about audio controls being from stone age... not the entire system. Generally it works fine.

I am surprised that no-one has mentioned the mission music to you. Most people I've been talking to seem to agree that it would be nice to have _option_ to keep them on even for example station music is still off.

Perhaps some people do not even remember/know that they exist anymore. This would not be great surprise as I can say rather safely that most multiboxers have permanently turned the music slider to 0-volume after you guys removed the jukebox and forced us to listen music on station on every client regardless did we like it or not. You can imagine how it sounds when 2+++ different tunes play on top of each other. So... obviously after this all the mission musics, character selection musics and related are gone for good also. And yes - you should check some stats how many of us actually do multibox 2+++ clients. Should give some nice fresh perspective to feature planning. Adding button to disable station music (only) would be great start already.

No I haven't read this thread as I came here just to give quick feedback about stuff I think is missing or what could work better. This is not the 1st time I mention these things over the years and probably will not be the last either. My plan was to leave the post and be done with it in 10 minutes. However your initial answer did kind of force me to start arguing (again) and apparently some ISD truncated my feedback to more compact form for easier reading.

Yep... I do want the option to disable station music (or other easy way to turn it off). This is correct. However I didn't want the stuff what forced me to want the thing in 1st place :-)

...and it is nice to hear that you've been working with some stuff already. Thank you.

...and finally to get back to the CQ flat screen audio thingy (which was and is really the most minor issue of them all as you prolly guessed) - it doesn't really matter who implemented it. There is always room for fixes, improvements and upgrades which someone can make. In ideal world you could stream live video/html through that, but obviously that would be whole different issue. I've been asking for volume slider since it was released just because it sucks to normalize all .bik files to certain audio level (more about that behind link which is in my signature) which sounds good in CQ.

...but like I said this is really minor thing and really doesn't affect the gameplay at all. Just a thing what could be there in ideal world to save some time while converting the videos. Anyways here is proof of concept and lovely presentation with fixed audio levels and echo effects: http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1312/CQ-audio.mp4

We will put in more audio control, I promise you that.
it's been on my desk for a while and we are just about to have a setup which could work.

but we will most likely put "some of it" in first and then check with some statistics on how it's used, before we put in the full monty.

Another thing, your proposal of having only mission music is pretty good, It will need to be discussed of course, and I'm sure you understand that, but it's a pretty good proposal. It might go in under the control.

and yea, I know how the stacking of music is annoying ;) I run, more than 5 clients, myself. and I have been trying to figure out how to fix this or make it "easy" to work with.
But it's still on the drawing table.

The CQ thing, I never heard of and I didn't even know the feature was there. it seems a bit broken that you can put in a custom file, but can't control volume.
not saying that you should be able to control volume, but if it plays at max volume and the game is lowered just slightly, you will obviously have serious problems.

This, seriously, never heard of it.
One problem is that players may be talking about something privately, but that never reaches me.
suggestions, thoughts, etc.

Send me an EVE mail and I'll be very happy to look at it.
I don't promise to customize EVE to whatever people want, I'm just saying that if I'm not told what players think, I might overlook things and not get the idea.

an idea from a player that I can iterate upon would be awesome.

It was only through someone's thread reply a while ago now about the music changing on Acceleration Gates that I knew we had mission music! I haven't turned that Music Slider up from 0 in years (well since the Jukebox was removed) and I had that turned off as well (apart from back in circa 2004 when I managed to manipulate my own music into the client and have Eminem blaring as I destroyed roids Bear).

Would be good to have granular music controls and I really do hope (looking at you here CCP WhiteNoiseTrash) that we get some kind of interface to select when we want music and where:

[ ] Station Music
[X] Mission Music
[ ] Warping Music

That kind of thing...I know I'm so kewl with graphical representation Ugh

I know its been asked before, but is there any way to turn off the throbbing shield alarm for an armor tanked ship? (without turning off that alarm completely, for all ships) Maybe make it a bit more intelligent...say..a couple if/then statements...if ship has no shield mods, and active armor mods, mute the throbbing for shield...ect...

Yes there is. in your UI warning settings, just set the threshold to max or min. and you will have the sound only play if you are at those specifics.but there will be a way to control them specifically soon.

So, how is that what i was asking? Unless you've recently changed that setting to be persistent with each individual ship, and not a global setting....

That is what i was asking, for a way for it to not-exist on my armor ships, and still be there on my shield ships.

ISD, i apologize if stating facts was considered a personal attack. I guess i will refrain from using them in the future.

Ah. no not for individual ships, only globally as it is right now.

ok. so regarding this looping gate noise. Maybe you could just remove the sound effect on TQ till its fixed? I asked around and everybody i asked could reproduce it. and its very annoying. I basically warp to safe and restart the client while in warp to make it go away.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I heard others being able to reproduce it.
I just haven't myself, in and out of stations and everything.

It's quite odd.

But something could have gone wrong in the previous patch, we had a memory leak which we fixed and that new patch is going in on tuesday, if it's still there afterwards - I'll remove it.

It's not JUST the gate, other environmental noises are looping as well.
I've had this happen with the background incursion noise (for many minutes after leaving the constellation) and with my salvagers, many minutes after they've deactivated. It could potentially be linked to having been zoomed out while the sound is first encountered, and then zooming in (either before the sound is supposed to end or after, I'm not really sure).

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

That would be a graphical issue, and not an audio issue than ;)
yet it affects audio, then there is nothing I can do about it, if the it's the graphics that spawns the instance that makes the sound occur.

Yet, it is quite odd, because that would mean that the 3D instance of the graphics should occur on top of the camera, to make it not change with zooming in and out, and that has yet to be reproduced and proven,

It's less a matter of "someone implemented this" and more a matter of "a player discovered you could mess with the files" and after CCP found out they decided to tell everyone about it in a dev blog instead of banning that person for EULA violation.

There's a horrible buzzing and clacking sound whenever I zoom in on my ship. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether I've jumped through gates or anything like that, just a constant BZZT CLAK CLAK BZZZZT CLAK that never goes away unless I zoom all the way out.

I've always played EVE with the sound on but this is ******* awful, I'm going to have to mute it if it's working as intended.

EDIT: Actually maybe it is gate-related, it went away briefly but returned as soon as I changed systems.

well, I went over this with the guys here - and since it's "official" that you can do so. of course there should be an option on this.
but it won't happen until summer for sure.

Another thing is also that very few players actually use the CQ, not that I will let those few players down, but I can't fix this, before so many other things - so this is for summer for sure.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread and I think I saw you acknowledged it, but just posting to make sure: there is an "electronic/industrial" sound from jumping stargates that continues to loop until I turn audio off and on again. Should I bug report it or is it already on your to-do list?

EDIT: whoops, that seems to be what the poster above was talking about, carry on and thanks for your hard work!

don't worry. it's very annoying this one.
because it not reproducible here, not even internally and not even when I play the game myself (and that should actually have the same problems as everybody else)

but don't fret.
the previous patch, had some problems, (some merging and a few things might have gone wrong, we are not sure where in the chain) - and there is another one coming in tomorrow (Tuesday) at DT - which should contain the final fixes and everything missing from the first patch.

it's crucial that you all let me know if this problem continues, after tomorrow.
