Overheat Drones

Why can every other weapon system be overheated but drones? Why not let drones be overheated too?

I suggest...
25% bonus to MWD speed (not orbital speed, just MWD)
15% damage bonus (for combat drones)
-15% cycle time bonus for logi drones
Combat support drones only get the MWD bonus
Mining and salvage drones can't overheat.

Drones take structure damage while overheated. The amount of damage depends on the drone (larger drones take damage faster so that all have the same overheat duration). When a drone runs out of structure it dies and cannot be scooped or repaired.

Probably would need to prevent drones from being remote structure repped while overheated.

I dont see a real need for this, and it also ends up being a straight 15% damage bonus to things with infinite sentry drones

Can't the same be said for any other ship in the game? Allowing it to overheat its weapon system of choice results in it getting a 15% damage bonus? As far as the need? How about why not? Why should others be able to and not drones.

You can't stockpile thousands of spare weapons in your carrier's drone bay.

(However with spaceyurts carrying a bunch of spare weapon sets, constantly overheating, and swapping out burned out ones sounds like it'd be hilarious.)

Drones are already overpowered, so no thanks to this idea.

drones are not overpowered, they are vulnerable limited to amount in drone bay, low ehp pop rather easly (ask any experienced tackler pilot) what i would like to see is the drone aggro fixed, they were fine before but got nerfed in the way of RAT AI 2.0 instead of doing that they could have just had a limited "fuel" timer so they return when fuel gets low (30 mins max or something?) to have stopped people afkign for hours in combat sites just killing the waves.

If you anchor a mobile depot or have a ship in your fleet with fitting services you can stockpile weapons the same way.

I don't think that is a good reason not to consider it. If drones are overpowered (I am not committing one way or another) then that should and will be addressed by CCP. They have said several times that big drone changes are coming. Assuming drones are balanced correctly, then I see no reason not to incorporate some kind of overheat mechanic.

Drones don't need this they already have advantages that more than make up for them not being able to be overheated. No need to reload and there ability to continue attacking even if the operators ship is jammed spring to mind.

That said while they themselves are not OP drone assist as it currently exists is.
