I had a baby back in May. I was really playing a lot of hours a week before that, when I found out the wife was pregnant I froze my accounts and tried to play something 'less time intense' than Eve. I found instead that consolidating accounts and playing less hours per week was a completely viable option. I re-subbed to 'grind' several PLEX 2 weeks before the baby was born. The Baby was born 2 weeks early the next morning.

I found I didn't have to 'grind' at all. I simply budgeted my time wisely. I went from having one single PLEX in my bank and a couple of ships to having an incredible amount of assets again. I don't multi box anymore but train multiple characters and use them all.

Recently I started playing another game and put Eve on the backburner. Spending even less time logged in, but paying my accts with PLEX monthly without a lot of BS. CCP has done a great job with this game lately IMHO. You can play the **** out of it or you can play it a little bit. I have spent thousands of other peoples dollars on this game and feel really comfortable with that.

The PLEX & training system is a great strategy as a company. They have stated that is has been both one of their biggest banes and successes, but in the long run I think it's better for the game. People can take a break from it and keep the skill queue active, moan about being a bittervet, all the while paying money and then coming back with more skills than before.

And it seems to me that while a lot of people claim PLEX is "pay to win" when used to buy bigger and better stuff, or real money to buy characters, I find that to not really be the case. You can spend tons of money IRL on this game and still suck, you can play for (almost) free from the start and win big. If you get grandfathered in you can play completely free from the start.

Congrats on the baby and well done on figuring out a happy balance between gaming and family, not all people manage that.

The fact that you can progress while not being logged in imo is and will always be eves strongest point. If life's too hectic, come back in a week or three and you've completed a long skill and can now be that bit better or start on that ship you were aiming for.

Good luck with the baby and good luck in your eve endeavours.

Having a baby is a whole new kind of CTA in the middle of the night.

Congratulations on the little one!

Congrats on the new family member! And on being able to balance between your family and your pastime. And on still being able to PLEX your account(s). That's impressive for a casual player/dad.
